EU Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) for Shopware 5

About the Extension

Extension of manufacturer data for the EU Product Safety Regulation (GPSR).  From December 14, 2024, it will be necessary to provide the name, registered trade name or registered trademark of the manufacturer, as well as the postal address and an electronic contact address (e-mail or website URL) for each product offered online.  If the manufacturer of the product does not have an establishment within the European Union (EU), online retailers are required to provide, in addition to the above manufacturer information, the name, postal address and an electronic contact address (email or website URL) of the so-called responsible person according to GPSR or Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 on market surveillance and compliance of products in the affected product offers. So you only have to fill in a new field within the manufacturer.

We add a new field for manufacturers in which you can enter the required information. This will then be displayed under the product description. This way you don't have to change all products individually.

FAQ

Q: Why can't I just use the manufacturer's description?

A: Because it is not displayed under the products.

Q: Well, why don't you just take the manufacturer's description then and display it under the products?

A: Because this is required by many retailers for search engine optimization. 

Q: Why don't you display the information as a pretty TAB?

A: Because we believe that this solution will not stand up in court. We believe that it is safer to display the manufacturer information directly below the product, without further clicking.

Q: Why don't you have an automatic solution via dynamic product groups?

A: Because this is a legal issue that requires full attention, and we think that in this case rules and automations could lead to misallocations and “forgotten” products, so we would advise against this. 

Q:   I would like to import / export this data, where can I find it in the database?

Q: I have entered the data / I have translated it into English - but I do not see the data / the translation in the frontend.  A: Please check whether you have entered the GPSR data in the description. This is incorrect. They belong in the “GPSR” field. Also in the translations (when you click on the globe).
