About the Extension

With the plug-in "Order numbers by date", your shop will automatically assign order numbers for new orders prefixed by the current date. Order numbers will start over at 1 for every calendar period configured.


Our clear and simple configuration leaves nothing to be desired. When configuring the order number you're free to choose:

By default, order numbers start over at 1 daily. Your orders will be given a number in the form: 2023071100001 (i.e. order no. 00001 on July 11th 2023) You can adjust freely the number of digits the order number will have - this means it can easily be adapted to increasing order volumes Assign order numbers by year, month or day, e.g. 2018000023 (year 2018), 20180100002 (month of January 2018) or daily generated order numbers (see default setting) Hyphens or special characters are also possible in the configuration, e.g. 2020-01-00004, 2018/06/03/0005 With the easy-to-configure plugin you and your customers keep track of their orders. As soon as your order volume increases, simply adjust the number of digits at the beginning of the next calendar period. For example, with five-digit order numbers in March of 2019 (2019-03-99083), you can switch to six-digit numbers starting in April (2019-04-000002). Using this option orders in your shop still stay well sorted and you can avoid chaos, as soon as the success of your shop increases.


One pleasant side-effect of automatic order number generation depending on the date is the effect of obfuscation, so your competitors won't receive comprehensive knowledge of your order volume through test orders (as they could because your shop would simply increase order numbers starting at 20001 or 1 without our plug-in). The order volume of your shop stays obscured to a certain extent, whereas order numbers remain comfortably legible for your customers at the same time.
