About the Extension
When migrating from an existing shop system to a Shopware installation, customer data can also be transferred, whether using the Shopware Migration Wizard, the CSV import, via a third-party plugin or via external services.
However, no existing customer passwords are taken over. This means that existing customers have to reset and re-assign their passwords in a complicated manner after the migration.
Since the passwords are (usually) only stored in encrypted form in the old shop systems, they cannot be used directly. In order to solve exactly this problem and still enable the password transfer to Shopware, we have developed our own password encoder for Shopware. This means that the old passwords can be imported into Shopware and users can log in with their usual password after a shop migration.
This plugin supports different hash functions that can be (de)activated and configured in the plugin configuration, e.g. sha512 or bcrypt.
At the first successful login, the password is re-hashed and stored by Shopware with the default algorithm. So the passwords are "migrated" in the end effect.
