About the Extension
The Google gtag.js (Global Site Tag) is a Javascript library to simplify event tracking on websites. It can be used to transfer page views and conversions to Google services - e.g. Google Analytics.
With the "Tracking with Google Gtag.js" app, important e-commerce metrics are tracked, such as the shopping cart incl. value, or which products are called up. This means that the app can also be used to collect data for dynamic remarketing campaigns. The configuration is very simple: only the Google Analytics ID has to be entered in the app configuration.

3. addToCart events (incl. product, price)
4. removeFromCart events (incl. product, price)
5. purchase events (incl. shopping cart)
6. beginCheckout events (incl. shopping cart)
7. checkout step events

GA4
The following events are tracked in the shop:
1st ViewItem event
2nd ViewItemList event
3. addToCart events (incl. product, price)
4. removeFromCart events (incl. product, price)
5. purchase events (incl. shopping cart)
6. beginCheckout events (incl. shopping cart)
7. checkout step events, such as add_shipping_info and add_payment_info
8. search event
Strong in data protection
Data protection and DSGVO are an important topic that especially affects tracking and marketing apps. With the Gtag.js app, the use of the service can be implemented in the most DSGVO-compliant way possible. The app supports the Cookie Consent Tools of Shopware 6, CookieBot, UserCentrics und CookieFirst, so that the user can decide whether Google cookies may be set or not. In addition, the app supports an opt-out link (see installation instructions) so that the user can opt out of the website's tracking.
