About the Extension

Purpose of the plugin

With the plugin "Insert products via voucher code" you can extend the discount function of Shopware (Admin > Marketing > Promotions > Select discount or create new one > new tab "Products") to generate voucher codes for products. This voucher code can be controlled based on rules (Conditions tab). These can then be used by customers in the shopping cart in the frontend to receive the relevant product at a discount or free of charge.

For the relevant products, an additional info text can be displayed in the product detail view in the frontend, stating that the product can only be ordered by using a voucher code. The shopping cart button is then hidden in the detailed view. The plugin can also be used to define that the input fields "Product number entry" & "Voucher code entry" are also displayed in the empty shopping cart - not only if there are already products in the shopping cart. The use of the voucher code can be controlled with various rules.

Application examples

• You would like to generate a voucher code where your customers can receive a promotional gift from your company free of charge. Customers should be able to easily add this to their shopping cart using a voucher code. However, the promotional gift may only be ordered once per customer.

• You would also like to display the voucher codes & product numbers input fields in an empty shopping cart and not just when products are in the shopping cart. However, this should only be possible for certain customers. (rule-based)

• You want to generate a voucher code for a product so that a special customer group can order the product free of charge. However, the product should be displayed normally in the store with the defined price for other customers and be available for purchase.

Use of the plugin

After installing and activating the plugin, you will find it in the admin area under Extensions > My Extensions > Plugin Insert products via voucher code > ... > configure the basic settings for the display of the input fields Product number & Voucher code in the empty shopping cart. The display of the input fields is rule-based.

Under Catalogues > Products > Select product > tab Specifications > section Custom fields > Insert ACRIS products via voucher code can be set, that a product can only be purchased via a voucher. This displays a product info text in the product detail view in the frontend.

The voucher code for a product can be defined under Marketing > Promotions > Create or edit promotion > tab General > Promotion codes.
In the tab Conditions, rule-based conditions for the voucher code can be defined as usual (sales channels, customer rules, shopping cart rules, order rules).

The new discount is created under the tab Discounts. The following settings must be made (Apply to: CART,  Apply to a specific range of products only: ACTIVATE, Product rules: The appropriate product rule that was previously defined in the Rule Builder must be entered here).
Under Settings > Rule Builder the product rule, which must be entered for the voucher code in the Discounts tab, can be created and edited. It is important to define the following condition here: Item with the voucher code >> At least one >> Is one of >> Select the relevant product.
After the new promotion has been saved for the first time (promotion code generated), the additional Products tab appears where the desired product can be selected.

Instructions for use

• As soon as the field "The product can only be purchased with a voucher" has been activated for a product under Catalogues > Products > Select product > tab Specifications > section Custom fields > Insert ACRIS products via voucher code, the product can only be added to the shopping cart via a voucher code. It is also no longer possible to add the product to the shopping cart using the product number. The information is also displayed for the product directly in the frontend.
• If the clearence sale is active for a product and there is no more stock available, the voucher cannot be used by the customer - an error message is displayed.
• If the product is defined as clearence sale and a stock level is available, the product will be added to the shopping cart with the voucher code without any problems.
• ATTENTION: If the field "Hide products after clearance" is activated under Settings > Product and the product hast no longer a stock level, the product can't be found anymore in the frontend via the search. Also the voucher code can't be used either.
• If the product is NOT a clearence sale product and the stock level is 0, the voucher can still be used.
• When a voucher code is added to the shopping cart, 2 items will appear in the cart - one item for the product & one item for the discount.
• The plugin can be used to define a discount for a product between 1% - 100% - the product can therefore also be made free of charge (e.g. for promotional gifts)
• If the voucher code can't be found in the frontend, also check the conditions (sales channels, customer rules, shopping cart rules, order rules) under Promotions > Select promotion > tab Conditions.

Section General settings

• Sales Channel: Selection of the sales channels for which the plugin is to be used.
• Show the product number entry when the shopping cart is empty: If at least one of the assigned rules applies (OR operation), the product number entry will be displayed when the shopping cart is empty. If no rules are assigned then the product number entry will not be displayed.
• Show voucher code entry when shopping cart is empty: If at least one of the assigned rules applies (OR operation), the voucher code entry is displayed if the shopping cart is empty. If no rules are assigned, the voucher code entry is not displayed.

• The product can only be purchased via a voucher: If active, the product can only be purchased using a voucher code. A quantity change in the shopping basket is also only possible via a voucher. In addition, the visibility of the product in the sales channel can be restricted so that the item is available in the sales channel but cannot be found.

Section Promotion codes

• Code options: Selection of which type of promotional code is to be used (no promotional code required, fixed promotional code, individual promotional codes)
  A pattern for the codes can be stored for the individual promotion code so that the codes are always generated in the same way.
  
• Promotion code: The code can either be freely selected or randomly generated (prerequisite: "Fixed promotion code" is selected in the "Code options" field). The Products tab only appears after a promotion code has been generated and saved!

• Product rules: Select product rules (multiple selection possible), which were created in the Rule Builder before.

Section Products

This tab is only available once a promotion code has been generated and saved in the General tab under the Promotion code section!

• Add product: When using the voucher code, the stored products with the selected quantity are automatically added to the shopping cart. The voucher automatically reduces the quantity of the product in the system. If a product with a voucher code should still be able to be ordered normally by customers, this must be configured for the product itself. The visibility of the product can also be adjusted there.
