Technical information
It converts all major images format in more modern and web-safe extension: webp. The extension supported are JPG, PNG, BMP and GIF with only one frame. GIF images with more than one frame cannot be converted without losing animation, so they are skipped.
The plugin is designed to skip already converted images and prevent your shop to use unneeded CPU resources. It is also memory safe. It doesn’t matter if your shop has a lot of photos, you will not run out of RAM while processing images.
Installation notes
Once the plugin is installed it will register a scheduled task so to set the next execution time. You can either install it and just wait or, if you would like to have some immediate feedback you can lunch the custom cli command from sw6root with
$ php bin/console fourtwosix:convert-imageAnother way to gather information is looking at logs usually saved in sw6root/var/log/
*Beware that for large image pool the overall conversion can take a while.

- Webp format might not be fully recognized by devices using MacOS <=11 and safari version > 14
