About the Extension
The No Payment Method Preselection plugin removes pre-selected payment methods from your storefront, so every customer has to actively choose how they want to pay. No payment option is selected by default on any order.
What it does
- Removes the default (pre-selected) payment method across the cart, checkout and account pages.
- Requires customers to consciously pick a payment method before they can place an order.
- Restores a clear, deliberate payment choice for every purchase.
Why use it
A pre-selected payment method can lead customers to pay in a way they did not intend. By making the choice explicit, you improve checkout transparency and reduce mistaken selections.
It also helps your store follow consumer protection best practices. In some markets an active payment choice is a legal requirement.
Configurable per sales channel
You can enable or disable the functionality individually for each sales channel. Shops that offer only a single payment method can simply turn it off to keep their checkout as fast as possible, while others keep the active selection enforced. The setting is off by default, so existing installations keep working exactly as before after an update – nothing needs to be re-enabled.
