About the Extension

With the plugin "Add videos (YouTube, Vimeo, etc) to the image slider of the article detail page" you can add up to 4 videos to the image slider of the article detail page. You can store different videos for each article. It is also possible to fill in the fields using a CSV import.

You can define within the plugin configuration whether the thumbnail navigation (preview image navigation) should be displayed vertically or horizontally (we recommend vertical display for variant articles). You can also activate the horizontal display of the thumbnail navigation within the article editing mask in the Shopware backend individually for each article.

The following video formats are supported:

youtube

vimeo

HTML5 video

Likewise, for each video, you can choose the position of the video:

before the first image (navigating through the individual image slider elements is only possible using the circles and arrows when you are on the video)

after the last image (navigating through the individual image slider elements is only possible using the circles and arrows when you are on the video)

The corresponding video URL/ID is stored for each video. For a YouTube video, this is the YouTube ID, for a Vimeo video, the Vimeo ID, and for an HTML5 video, the URL to the HTML5 video. For each video, the link to a previously uploaded thumbnail for the image slider can be stored so that a thumbnail for the video is displayed in the image slider.

Within the plugin configuration, selected video parameters can be defined globally for all YouTube, Vimeo and HTML5 videos (located within the image slider of the article detail page). The video parameters can now also be set individually for each video.

The following parameters are supported for all videos:

- repeat

- Mute

- Disable control

- Hide Title

YouTube:

Hide YouTube logo

Disable keyboard controls

Hide video annotations (YouTube announced in 2017 that the platform would no longer support annotations after January 15, 2019)

Use of YouTube in the extended data protection mode

We use the provider YouTube to embed videos. The videos are embedded in enhanced privacy mode. However, like most websites, YouTube uses cookies to collect information about visitors to its website. YouTube uses these, among other things, to collect video statistics, to prevent fraud and to improve user-friendliness. This also leads to a connection to the Google DoubleClick network. If you start the video, this could trigger further data processing operations. We have no influence on that. You can find more information about data protection at YouTube in their data protection declaration at: http://www.youtube.com/t/privacy_at_youtube

Notes on the plugin

How to get the IDs of the videos? With a YouTube video, the value behind the v= is always the YouTube ID, for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGQHr4luXqU the aGQHr4luXqU. With Vimeo, the Vimeo ID is the value after the last slash (/), for example https://vimeo.com/68370399 the 68370399.

For HTML5 videos, the path begins after media\...

When using the autoplay function, it can happen that the end device or the operating system (iOS or Android) does not support this function in order to keep the amount of data to be transmitted in mobile networks low.

Compatible themes: this plugin is compatible with Shopware's responsive theme and themes derived from it. When using a third-party theme that was purchased from the Shopware Store, proper use of the plugin cannot be guaranteed.

Autoplay Policy Changes: Google Chrome has removed the autoplay feature. Chrome's autoplay policy only allows autoplay on auto-muted videos. Additionally, use the Mute parameter to automatically play videos in Google Chrome as well.
