PayPal Checkout

PayPal's latest, all-in-one checkout solution. Securely accept PayPal Digital Payments, credit/debit cards and local payment methods. It also lets you offer Venmo (US only), Pay Later options and more — all designed to help you maximize conversion.


Payment upon Invoice (Germany):

To be able to continue offering your customers payment upon invoice, you can switch to the new PayPal Checkout in just a few steps. Your customers will only pay after 30 days, but you will paid up front. Your customers don't even need a PayPal account* for this. 


PayPal Express Button

With PayPal Express Button, you can make the payment method for your customers faster, more convenient, and smoother: Your customers can get to the PayPal payment page with just one click. In addition, you can shorten the payment process with the PayPal Express button to get directly from the product view to pay with PayPal without detours. This allows you to generate more purchases free of charge –optimized for mobile payment on smartphones and tablets.

Apple Pay and Google Pay

Vaulting

PayPal enables you to securely save your customers’ payment methods, including PayPal, Venmo and credit and debit cards, providing a quick and easy checkout experience.

Saving a customer’s payment method allows you to set up recurring payments and charge your customer on a scheduled basis.

Card data can be kept current with account updater services to automatically update expired card information to help capture every sale.

Aktuell geht weder Direkt noch über die Kasse eine PayPal Zahlung, ich hoffe auf eine schnelle Lösung.

Beim Shopware Update auf 6.7.8.2 spielt das Paypal Plugin Fehler aus. Es ist nicht verwendbar.
Ich hoffe auf schnelle Behebung mit der nächsten Version.

Aktuell können wir unser Shopware-Update nicht durchführen, weil es einen dokumentierten Bug im Paypal-Plugin gibt: https://github.com/shopware/shopware/issues/14700
Alle Versandarten werden an Paypal übermittelt. Aber auf Paypal-Seite werden die Versandkosten fälschlicherweise mit 0,00 EUR ausgewiesen. Wenn Kund:innen das wählen, werden sie zurück auf den Shop geleitet, wo natürlich wieder die korrekten Versandkosten angezeigt werden. Dass das zu einer hohen Absprungrate führt, dürfte selbsterklärend sein.
Diesen BUG haben wir bereits am 03. Feb. 2026 (vor einem Monat) an Shopware gemeldet.
Der Support ist zwar bemüht, aber letztendlich passiert NICHTS, weil man den Fehler auf Paypal schiebt und einfach abwartet. Der Vorschlag, eine Option ins Plugin einzubauen, die verhindert, dass die Versandarten überhaupt an Paypal übertragen werden, wird ignoriert.
Wir sitzen hier seit über einem Monat in Warteschleife und können unseren Shop nicht updaten, weil Paypal eine unserer wichtigsten Zahlarten ist. Einfach nur enttäuschend!

Das PayPal-Plugin hat sich in unserem Alltag schnell vom „nice to have“ zum absoluten Muss entwickelt. Schon die Installation war buchstäblich ein Klick, und innerhalb weniger Minuten konnten wir unseren Kunden alle gängigen PayPal-Zahlarten anbieten – inklusive PayPal, Kreditkarte, Lastschrift, Raten- und Später-Zahlen-Optionen.

Totalausfall & massiver Umsatzeinbruch nach simplem Server-Neustart

Wir müssen leider eine 1-Sterne-Bewertung abgeben, um andere Shop-Betreiber vor dem enormen Schaden zu warnen, der uns durch dieses Plugin entstanden ist.

Was ist passiert?
Nach einem simplen Server-Neustart ist die PayPal-Zahlungsart in unserem Shop komplett ausgefallen. Es wurden keine Konfigurationen am Shop oder am Plugin (oder anderen Plugins) geändert. Dieser Totalausfall einer essenziellen Zahlungsfunktion hat bei uns zu einem enormen Umsatzverlust und einem massiven, zusätzlichen Supportaufkommen durch verunsicherte Kunden geführt.

Unsere Erfahrung mit dem Support:
Die anschließende Erfahrung mit dem Shopware-Support war leider unterirdisch und hat das Problem nur verschlimmert:

Standard-Antworten: Statt auf die Dringlichkeit einzugehen, erhielten wir langsame und generische Textbaustein-Antworten, die das Problem pauschal auf Drittanbieter-Plugins schoben. Empfehlung: Nutzt diese Drittanbieter-Plugins stattdessen!

Keine echte Hilfe: Unser Hinweis, dass der Fehler nach einem Neustart und nicht nach einer Änderung auftrat, wurde ignoriert. Die Forderung nach einer komplexen Testumgebung, die wir nicht kurzfristig bereitstellen konnten, führte zu einem totalen Stillstand bis hin zur Deaktivierung der PayPal-Zahlungsart, während wir weiter massive Umsätze verloren haben.

Ineffiziente Kommunikation: Eine direkte, lösungsorientierte Hilfe (z.B. ein kurzes Telefonat) wurde verweigert. Die gesamte Kommunikation war schleppend und nicht auf die Lösung des geschäftskritischen Problems ausgerichtet.

Fazit & Warnung an andere Nutzer:
Seien Sie sich des Risikos bewusst. Dieses offiziell von Shopware entwickelte Plugin kann Ihren Shop von einer Sekunde auf die andere lahmlegen und immense finanzielle Schäden verursachen. Der Support ist im Ernstfall leider keine Hilfe. Wir können nur dringend empfehlen, eine alternative Zahlungsintegration als Backup bereitzuhalten oder gänzlich auf eine zuverlässigere Lösung von Drittanbietern zu setzen. Für uns war diese Erfahrung ein wirtschaftlicher Albtraum, der in der Reduzierung unserer Geschäftsabhängigkeit von Shopware resultiert.

Im Gegensatz zu den doch überraschend vielen negativen Bewertungen haben wir weder mit Shopware 5 noch mit Shopware 6 jemals größere Probleme mit dem Plugin gehabt. Es läuft und erwirtschaftet nahezu die Hälfte des Umsatzes des Shops.

Das Plugin setzt meist neue PayPal-Technologien sehr schnell um. Über die letzten Jahre hat sich an der Qualität einiges getan.

Telefonnummern werden beim Checkout mit PayPal zwar zu SW übertragen aber das + nicht.

Die wenigen Sterne, da das die einzige Möglichkeit ist, das aufzuzeigen und Hoffnung, dass es sich ändert.
