Description:
At the end of 2017 Google introduced a new format for the AdWords Conversion Tracking.
The old tracking codes still work for now. However, since the switch to Google Ads, Google recommends moving to the new tracking code because, especially on Apple devices after the introduction of Intelligent Tracking Prevention, conversions can only be tracked to a limited extent.
The new tracking code consists of two elements. The global site tag is embedded on all pages of the shop. In addition, an event snippet for conversion tracking is output on the order confirmation page to report orders with net order value and transaction number.
The Google Ads plugin also supports event snippets for Dynamic Remarketing. It passes the parameters ecomm_prodid, ecomm_pagetype and ecomm_totalvalue on product detail pages and product lists, in the shopping cart, the order overview, the order confirmation, and in quick view windows. This allows you to build audience lists. For example, you can use these lists to target customers in the Display Network with the exact products they showed interest in, or to adjust bids for customers who visited your shop but have not yet purchased. Simply enable dynamic remarketing in the plugin settings to activate this feature.
