About the Extension
The payment surcharges plugin allows you to charge the customer for using a specific payment method. This can be just a couple of cents nudges the customer to a preferred method.
Surcharges are configurable on payment method level to the price of your choice.
Once a payment method is selected a line item will be added to the order containing the surcharge and an extra indication will be provided in the order summary.
This provided optimal scalability and makes it very easy to view your surcharges in your order management process.
It also allows for easy exposure of this data via the native Shopware API with a minimal footprint in the codebase.

Initially I had big problems to get the module to work. Partly, the names in the manual no longer correspond to those in Shopware 6. So I did not know if I had really installed everything correctly. However, my problem was in a different place. I forgot to deactivate the cache before the installation, which is why I always got the old environment displayed. Now everything works and I could just test the module.
First what I like:
- On the contrary to another module provider, I find it clearer that the surcharges are displayed directly with the shipping costs.
- You don't have to create rules first to enter surcharges. The entry of surcharges is solved very simply.
- What I do not like so much:
-The surcharge is declared as an amount in the respective payment method. The customer therefore does not know how many percentages are actually charged. I would find it better if this was declared as follows: PayPal | 3.4% surcharge
- When summarizing the fees, the surcharge is simply declared as «payment costs». Here it would be nice if the surcharge could be declared more precisely. Example: 3.4% PayPal commission
Since everyone has their own idea of designations, it would be handy to be able to name the expense individually in the payment types.
- I would like to charge an extra fee for orders under €50. But currently there is only the possibility to charge a fee on payment types.
- This module costs more than twice as much as the module from Arcris, which brings the same functions. In addition, I can also charge a minimum quantity surcharge, which is unfortunately not possible here. However, I find the declaration of the surcharges in the shipping costs here better solved than in Arcris, which output the additional costs as products.
