About the Extension

The plugin allows you to combine the Shopware categories with Google categories. Thanks to it, you can display the category ID in the product feed or use it for other purposes. In the plugin configuration, we can manually force the category synchronization (update). The system also automatically sychronizes these categories from time to time. The link to download the categories can be changed, thanks to which we can change the language of the downloaded categories. It is important that the categories are always downloaded in one language. They cannot be translated later.

Perfekt, alle Produkte übernehmen die google-Kategorie, die schnell und einfach mit Suchfunktion in der Shopware-Kategorie des Produktes eingestellt wird. Leider fehlt in der Doku die wichtige Info, dass im google-Shopping-Template eine Zeile ausgetauscht werden muss. Zum Glück hat der Support schnell geholfen. Taxonomie-URL der Google-Kategorie (Deutsch - es kann leider nur eine Sprache eingestellt werden) https://www.google.com/basepages/producttype/taxonomy-with-ids.de-DE.txt Folgende Zeile muss ausgetauscht werden: -g:google_product_category-580{# change your Google Shopping category #} -/g:google_product_category- durch diese Zeile ersetzen. Leider wird der Code hier verändert. Bitte bei Salestube nach den unveränderten Code nachfragen. g:google_product_category>{{ product.categories.first.customFields.googleIdCategory|default }} 3:33 {{ product.categories.first.customFields.googleIdCategory|default }} Nochmals vielen Dank an Salestube Gruß Michael

How to configure the plugin to display the Google category ID in the product channel?

The process of installing and activating the plugin is simple and intuitive, similar to other plugins. After its installation, simply enter the plugin configuration and press the save button to fetch Google categories. To display the Google category ID in the product channel, you need to create an appropriate "product comparison" sales channel. In the template section, you can define the Google product category ID by adding {{ product.categories.first.customFields.googleIdCategory|default }} between the tags, allowing the selected Google category ID from the first product category to be displayed.

Does the plugin slow down the website after installation?

How often are Google categories updated in the plugin?

The plugin allows for automatic synchronization of Google categories, which occurs at regular intervals, ensuring data freshness without the need for manual user intervention. Additionally, we offer the option for manual category updates by the user in the plugin configuration, enabling quick response to any changes or needs specific to your store.

I would like to include Google category in product export for Google.

You need to add {{ product.categories.first.customFields.googleIdCategory|default }} between the g:google_product_category tags. If you have specific requirements or need to customize the plugin functionality, please contact us. We are ready to customize or create a new plugin to meet your individual needs.

We would like to test the "Google Categories" plugin, but the documentation lacks the URL that we need to replace in the export template. Could you provide the URL that should be entered instead of the standard URL (950{# change your Google Shopping category #})?

Regarding your question, the link can be changed, but it's worth noting that categories are fetched in one language and cannot be translated later. So if you want to change the language, it should be done initially by changing the URL suffix, for example, to "en-GB.txt". Then you need to create a "Product Comparison" sales channel and add the following line to the template configuration: {{ product.categories.first.customFields.googleIdCategory|default }}. Save the changes and synchronize again by clicking the - Google Category Taxonomy URL button in the plugin configuration. As a result, you'll be able to read the category ID in product channels. If you need to customize the solution to your individual needs, feel free to contact us directly. We can extend the plugin or create a new one that meets your requirements.

Google categories are saved only in one language, but we provide 3 languages in our store. So we would have to enter everything twice and three times for all languages... which means 1000 categories... This is a problem when uploading a feed because they are not there then... or when creating a feed. Is there a permanent solution for this?

If it is crucial for you to be able to read the Google categories set for the standard language in the product channel for a specific language, depending on the sales channel and domain, please contact us. It is possible to customize the feed template to read values from the default language: {{ category.translated.customFields.googleIdCategory }}. Our flexible approach allows avoiding the need to define Google categories for each product category in multiple languages while still allowing the use of the default Google category identifier. We are ready to customize our solution to meet your specific requirements.
