Measurement Protocol for Google Analytics 4
Description
Highlights
About the Extension
Google Analytics 4 is the latest service offered by Google, which allows you to measure and analyze the data the tool collects from connected websites and mobile applications. The collected data is then analyzed, and the report created on its basis is visible in a single panel. This makes it possible to measure user engagement and subsequent website optimization.
Google Analytics 4 replaces Google Analytics 3 (Universal Analytics) - as of July 1, 2023. Universal Analytics is no longer available and will not work - all analytics is taken over by the new GA4 service.
The new Google Analytics 4 is a very interesting alternative to the Universal Analytics version of the service. What's more, according to many experts, GA4 surpasses the capabilities offered by Analytics Universal in many aspects. First of all, Google Analytics 4 offers many more possibilities, such as when analyzing data and in creating reports. For data analysis, GA4 uses data that directly relates to user actions and specific events.
The plugin is primarily used to send e-commerce events via Measurement Protocol.
Because Measurement Protocol queries need GA cookie information, the plugin allows you to embed the GA script into your site. The plugin also allows embedding Google Tag Manager code, however, this is only in addition to the basic functionality focused on Measurement Protocol.
The current version of the plugin uses standard events defined by Google, making it sufficient to set up an account without any need to configure custom events.
