Send ESD serial number/coupon code via email

Configuration manual

You can easily install the extension via the plugin installation manager. Afterwards you only have to make a few settings:

1. restrict status

To prevent the serial numbers from being sent out to the customer too early, you should always set the filter to a status. We recommend you to set at least the payment status to "Paid in full", this way you prevent unpaid orders from using the serial numbers. Whether you want to use an additional order status depends entirely on your workflow.

2. activate logging

We recommend that you enable logging - especially in the beginning. This way you can track exactly when the email went out to your customer. If a customer thinks that he did not receive the serial number, you can track it optimally.

By the way, the log file is automatically cleaned of entries older than one month - so you don't have to worry about too large log files. 

3. customize your email template

You should now customize your email template. You can find it under Settings → Email Management → Email Templates → User Emails with the name "wdu_EsdMail". The mail is not particularly designed, but is based on the standard emails of Shopware and thus already draws the email header and footer. Here you can make your further optical adjustments.

4. set cronjob

The extension automatically creates a new cronjob for you. You can find and change it in the basic settings. By default it is set to every 5 minutes. Please note that depending on how you have set your cronjob at your store hoster, the frequency of sending may vary!

5. exclude ESD items from automatic serial number shipping (optional)

Sometimes it can happen that you do not want the behavior of the extension for individual ESD items for certain reasons. For this case we have integrated a free text field in the article master data. You just have to tick the checkbox and from now on this ESD article will be treated as usual and ignored by our extension. 

6. alternative article name and e-mail text

You can enter an alternative name for the product in the respective ESD article, which will then be displayed in the e-mail.

In addition, you can now store an individual text for the e-mail for each article.

7. activate extension

If all settings are set you only have to activate the extension. From then on all ESD numbers will be sent automatically to your customers by email and you don't have to worry about anything.

8. coupon codes (optional)

If you want to use our extension to send voucher codes please do the following.

• Create a voucher with individual voucher codes and save them
• Create ESD article
• Save coupon codes as serial numbers in the ESD article
