About the Extension

Customers continue where they left off

A customer fills the cart on the phone during lunch and logs in on the laptop in the evening – and the cart is empty. The same happens after a logout or an expired session. Most customers do not rebuild a cart from memory; they leave. Persistent Cart closes this gap: the cart of every logged-in customer is saved automatically and comes back at the next login, in the same browser, on another device or days later.

Nothing changes for your customers' shopping routine. There is no extra button and no separate list to manage – the cart is simply there again when they log in, and a short notice tells them how many items were restored from their last visit.

Guest cart and saved cart, combined the way you want

Customers often add a few products before they log in. You decide what happens when that cart meets the saved one: add up the quantities of the same product, keep the current cart and only add the saved products that are missing, or replace the current cart with the saved one. Each product appears only once in the cart, and saved products are not added twice when customers switch between devices.

Only what can really be bought comes back

Restored products go through the normal cart checks of your shop. Products that are inactive, hidden from the customer's group or sold out when sales are limited to available stock are left out, and quantities are reduced to the available stock and the maximum purchase quantity. Prices are always recalculated, so customers see today's prices – never the ones from their last visit. The notice after login lists which products are no longer available and which quantities were adjusted, so there are no surprises at checkout.

Old carts stay in the past

A cart from last year rarely helps anyone. Set a maximum age, and older saved carts are no longer restored. Once a customer places an order, the saved cart is cleared, so ordered products do not reappear at the next login – or, if you prefer, the last saved cart is kept until the customer changes the cart again. A cleanup command for the command line removes outdated saved carts and can be scheduled as a cron job.

Configured per shop and customer group

All settings can be defined separately for each shop, and language shops share the cart of their main shop. If the feature should only be available to certain customers – for example your B2B customers who build large orders over several days – limit it to selected customer groups. Guests are never affected: only carts of logged-in customers are stored, and a saved cart is deleted together with the customer account.
