About the Extension

Both Google and Facebook specify a so-called taxonomy in their specifications for the product data of the Google Merchant Center or the Facebook product catalogue. The taxonomy defines categories for products. Pinterest supports the Google taxonomy. By adding the taxonomy to your product exports, you increase your data quality and you can achieve better results.

The plugin reads the Google and Facebook taxonomy via a cron job. Product categories can be assigned to Google or Facebook categories. You can easily search in the data and choose a suitable category.

In the product exports, you can then use a Smarty modifier to output the appropriate category from the taxonomy of the desired provider for each product.

Since the Google taxonomy is available in both German and English, we use the ID of the categories in the exports so that the data is independent of the target language of the export.
