Description
About the Extension
This plugin automatically solves the problem that categories that are called via an incorrect link are not displayed correctly. By default, Shopware expects a category URL to end with a slash ("/"), otherwise instead of the actual category, depending on the configuration, the start page or even an error message is displayed that this category does not exist.
However, when copying or typing a category URL manually, you may quickly forget about this trailing slash. This is particularly annoying when this link is added to an external site over which you have no control and all potential customers who want to open the category via this link are discouraged.Shopware provides the ability to customize the URL schema to remove the trailing slash from the category URLs. If you choose this URL scheme, however, you have the problem that all category URLs with Trailing Slash would no longer work.
After installing this plugin you don't have to worry about this problem anymore! No matter which URL schema you choose, the plugin automatically corrects the called URL to the desired schema. Furthermore, the plugin offers the possibility to define how the URL correction should be done.- 301 Forwarding:
The customer is redirected from the wrong variant directly to the correct URL, i.e. the URL in the browser address line changes to the correct one. In addition, a 301 code is sent, informing search engines which is the correct URL. - Canonical Flag:
Alternatively to redirection, the correct category can also be displayed directly. Instead of a 301 code, a Canonical tag tells a search engine which URL variant is to be indexed.
