Description

ImageEngine is a global image CDN which accelerate image delivery by optimizing, resizing and converting images according to device, browser and network conditions, while still maintaining great visual quality. The result is a faster loading website with great looking images on any device.

ImageEngine uses of real time device detection at the edges of the CDN to make sure mobile users get the best possible user experience. The result is smaller image payload, faster page loading, improved Google PageSpeed Insights scores, and a better user experience leading to more conversions or sales.

How it works

ImageEngine is a pull based CDN, so images doesn't have to be moved from Shopware. ImageEngine will fetch the images from Shopware on demand.

When a visitor requests an image, ImageEngine CDN servers use client hints or device detection to identify the requesting devices and browser characteristics.

Based on the browser characteristics, ImageEngine will resize, compress and convert images to WebP, JPEG 2000, or AVIF.

The optimized image is delivered from the nearest ImageEngine CDN region. Subsequent requests are served instantly with WebP, JPEG 2000, or AVIF images and stored on ImageEngine’s global CDN.

Claim your ImageEngine delivery address

To start optimizing your Shopware site, an ImageEngine delivery address is needed. If you don't already have one, go to the ImageEngine website and claim it. Follow the instructions on screen, and take note of your delivery address at the end of the process.

Configuration manual

Download the plugin from the store or use an existent archive with the plugin
Log into your Shopware 6 administration area and navigate to Extensions -> My Extensions
Click the "Upload Plugin" button and select the extension downloaded
Go to the Settings -> Extensions and select "ImageEngine CDN"
If you don't have an ImageEngine delivery address already, go to the ImageEngine website to claim your dedicated delivery address.
Select Sales Channel and activate the plugin.
Insert the ImageEngine delivery address claimed in step 1 above into the “ImageEngine Delivery Address” field and save the settings. The “Shop Domain” setting is the url of your website.
Go to your website to check that images are now being served from ImageEngine.
