INSTALLATION1. Open the Plugin Manager via Settings > System > Plugins
2. Upload, install and activate the plugin
OVERVIEW
The plugin provides two labels:
- Statutory warranty label: the official EU graphic for the statutory warranty, without a
number of years. Configured exclusively via rules.
- Manufacturer warranty label: the guarantee label including warranty period, manufacturer
name and product number. Can be maintained in three ways - on the product, on the
manufacturer, or via rules.
Both labels can be configured separately for three storefront areas: product detail page,
order process (basket and checkout) and the product box in product overviews.
The statutory warranty label ships in 24 EU languages and is rendered automatically in the
storefront language. If the language is not included, the English version is used.
CONFIGURING THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY LABELThe plugin offers three different ways to manage manufacturer warranty labels.
Product-specific manufacturer warrantyCatalogues > Products > Specifications tab > Additional fields > Manufacturer Guarantee
Label > Guarantee Duration (Years)
The warranty period is maintained directly on the respective product. Display, positioning
and layout mode are configured centrally in the plugin configuration under Extensions > My
Extensions > EU Warranty and Guarantee Labels > Configure, and apply to all products
maintained through this custom field.
Suitable for individual products and exceptions.
Manufacturer-specific manufacturer warrantyCatalogues > Manufacturers > Additional fields > Manufacturer Guarantee Label > Guarantee
Duration (Years)
The warranty period is maintained directly on the respective manufacturer and applies to
all of its products. Display, positioning and layout mode are also configured centrally in
the plugin configuration.
Suitable when the warranty period is identical per brand.
Rule-based manufacturer warrantySettings > Extensions > EU Warranty and Guarantee Labels > Manufacturer Warranty Label
Manufacturer warranties are applied to product groups dynamically and via rules. Each
configuration carries its own display settings - the plugin configuration is not used here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Basic settings- Internal name: for identification in the administration only, not visible in the
storefront.
- Priority: controls the order when several configurations apply (higher priority comes
first).
- Warranty period in years: the value rendered in the label.
- Icon width in pixels: applies to the layout modes that show the short format (compact
with modal, compact with hover zoom, icon with link).
Display conditions- Rules: selected from the rule builder (Settings > Rules). The label is displayed if at
least one selected rule matches (OR). Without a rule the configuration applies to all
customers and situations.
- Dynamic product groups: selected from Catalogues > Dynamic product groups. The label is
displayed for all products contained in at least one assigned group (OR). Without a group
the configuration applies to all products.
- Both conditions are combined with AND: rules define WHO sees the label and WHEN (customer
group, country, sales channel, period), dynamic product groups define WHICH PRODUCTS it
applies to.
- If several configurations match the same product, each of them is displayed. For an
unambiguous result, define the conditions so that only one configuration matches per
product (for example non-overlapping product groups).
- After changing a dynamic product group the product assignment is re-indexed in the
background, so the storefront may update with a short delay.
Display areasDisplay, position and layout mode are configured per area:
- Product detail page: position and layout mode
- Order process: layout mode for basket and checkout
- Product box: position and layout mode
Legal note: the manufacturer warranty label is intended for the product detail page. A
nested display is permitted if it shows the prescribed short format ("XX years") and
reveals the full colour label on first click, rollover or touch - that is compact with
modal, compact with hover zoom or icon with link.
How the three variants interactIf more than one variant applies to a product, this order applies:
1. Product-specific manufacturer warranty (custom field on the product) - overrides
everything else.
2. Rule-based manufacturer warranty - applies if no custom field is maintained on the
product.
3. Manufacturer-specific manufacturer warranty (custom field on the manufacturer) - applies
only if no rule-based configuration matches.
Recommendation: use rule-based configurations for assortments and cross-cutting cases, and
the custom fields for individual exceptions.
CONFIGURING THE STATUTORY WARRANTY LABELSettings > Extensions > EU Warranty and Guarantee Labels > Statutory Warranty Label
Structure and condition logic are identical to the rule-based manufacturer warranty
(internal name, priority, rules, dynamic product groups, separate display areas).
Differences:
- No warranty period, as the statutory label contains no number of years.
- Icon height in pixels instead of width: the label is a portrait graphic in A4 aspect ratio
and is scaled by height.
- Additional settings in the order process:
- Display scope: per line item or once centrally.
- Pages (central only): basket and checkout, basket only, checkout only.
- Placement on the page (central only): below the product list or at the end of the page
(after all further checkout information, for example comment fields added by other
extensions).
Legal note: as of 27 September 2026 the statutory warranty label must be embedded directly
as a colour graphic - on the product detail page or centrally in the checkout. Displays
inside a tab as well as compact, hover and icon displays count as a nested display and are
not permitted. Recommended: position "below the order number" with layout mode "show full
label", or the central display in the checkout.
DISPLAY SETTINGSThe warranty and guarantee labels can be configured individually for different storefront
areas. Where the settings are maintained depends on the variant:
- Rule-based configurations: directly inside the respective configuration.
- Product- and manufacturer-specific manufacturer warranty: centrally in the plugin
configuration under Extensions > My Extensions > EU Warranty and Guarantee Labels >
Configure.
Positions- Product detail page: below the order number, in the description tab, in a separate tab,
in the warranty and guarantee label tab
- Product box: above the cart button, below the cart button
- Order process: no position selection; the label appears next to the respective line item.
For the statutory warranty label the central display can be used instead, with placement
"below the product list" or "at the end of the page".
Layout modes- Show full label: the complete colour graphic directly on the page.
- Compact with modal (statutory label: button with modal): compact display, the full label
opens in an overlay.
- Compact with hover zoom (statutory label: info text with hover zoom): compact display
that enlarges on hover or touch.
- Info text with hover zoom (manufacturer warranty label only): the warranty period as
text, enlarged on hover.
- Button with modal (manufacturer warranty label only): a button that opens the label in an
overlay.
- Icon with link: a scaled-down graphic linking to the full label. The size is controlled
via icon width or icon height in pixels.
When choosing a layout mode, please observe the legal notes in the respective sections.
APPLICATION EXAMPLES5-year warranty for one brand
Create a dynamic product group with the condition "manufacturer is brand X", create a
configuration "Warranty brand X" with a warranty period of 5, assign the group and leave
the rules empty. Result: all products of brand X show the label, regardless of customer and
sales channel.
3-year warranty for one assortment, 2 years for everything else
Create two configurations: "Assortment A - 3 years" with a dynamic product group for
assortment A, and "Base - 2 years" with a dynamic product group that excludes assortment A.
Important: do not leave the second configuration without a product group, otherwise both
match for assortment A and two labels appear.
Extended warranty for trade customers only
Create a rule "customer group is trade" in the rule builder, create a configuration with a
warranty period of 10, assign that rule and the relevant dynamic product group. Result: end
customers still see the standard configuration, logged-in trade customers see the extended
warranty.
Promotional warranty for a limited period
Create a rule with a date-range condition and assign it to the promotional configuration.
To avoid two labels during the promotion, add the inverted date-range condition to the base
configuration.
Warranty for an assortment with individual exceptions
Create a rule-based configuration for the assortment and maintain the custom field
"Guarantee Duration (Years)" on the products that differ. The custom field on the product
takes precedence and replaces the rule-based configuration for that product.
Statutory label for all products except digital items
Create a dynamic product group covering the physical assortments (for example by category
or property) and assign it to the statutory warranty label configuration. Alternatively,
display the label centrally in the checkout; the accompanying note then clarifies that it
refers to physical goods.
Statutory label only in certain sales channels or countries
Create a rule "sales channel is EU shop" or "delivery country is one of ...", assign it to
the configuration and leave the product groups empty. Result: the label only appears in the
affected channels or for the affected delivery countries.
Statutory label centrally in the checkout
Create a configuration without rules and without product groups, activate the display in
the order process area, set display scope to "once centrally", pages to "basket and
checkout", placement to "end of page" and layout mode to "show full label". Result: one
label per page instead of one label per line item.
NOTES AND TROUBLESHOOTING- The label does not appear: check that "display active" is set for the relevant area, that
the assigned rules match in the current context, that the product is contained in the
assigned dynamic product group and - for the custom-field-based manufacturer warranty -
that a warranty period is maintained. Then clear the storefront cache.
- Two labels appear: two configurations match the same product. Make the conditions
non-overlapping or deactivate one configuration.
- Manufacturer name or product number missing in the manufacturer warranty label: no
manufacturer is assigned to the product, or no product number exists.
- Changes to a configuration only affect items already in the basket after the product data
has been reloaded. To verify, remove the item and add it to the basket again.
- After creating or changing a dynamic product group, allow a moment for the assignment to
be indexed.
