About the Extension

Purpose of the plugin

Since 2 August 2026, new EU transparency rules have applied to AI content. In certain cases, it must be clear when images have been artificially generated or manipulated. The plugin helps label these images in Shopware and display the information directly in the storefront.

Label images in the media manager
Four labelling statuses are available for each image: “Not modified”, “AI-generated”, “AI-modified” and “General AI use”. This makes it possible to record whether an image was created with AI, modified using AI or involved AI in another way. An optional note can be added. Multiple images can be labelled at once and filtered by status in the media manager.

Identify signs of AI use during upload
When images are uploaded, the plugin checks their metadata for signs of AI use. If it finds relevant information, it suggests a labelling status. The suggestion can be reviewed, changed or applied for each image.

Display labels throughout the storefront
Labels can appear in product galleries, on product boxes, in search suggestions and Shopping Experiences, and in the cart and checkout. The display areas can be selected separately for each labelling status.

Customise the appearance
Label text, tooltips, colours, fonts and borders can be adjusted, including different settings for individual display areas. A default label position can be set and overridden for individual images. Additional labelling statuses can also be created.

Manage labelling data with CSV
An import and export profile is available for larger media libraries. Labelling statuses, label positions and notes can be managed using CSV files.

Installation

Extensions > My extensions

Upload the plugin ZIP file to the Shopware Administration using Upload extension. Then install and activate the plugin. The AI media labelling settings are available after activation.

Plugin configuration

Extensions > My extensions > AI Media Labelling > Configure

The plugin configuration defines the general appearance of AI labels in the storefront.

Storefront labelling active: Enables or disables the display of labels in the storefront.
Position of the label: Sets the default corner of the image in which the label appears: top left, top right, bottom left or bottom right. The default label position can be overridden for individual images.
Background colour and font colour: Customise the label colours. If no colours are selected, the plugin uses a black background and white text.

Manage labelling statuses

Settings > Extensions > AI labelling statuses

The plugin includes the statuses “AI-generated”, “AI-modified” and “General AI use”. Images can also be classified as “Not modified” in the media manager. This status does not display a label in the storefront.

Existing statuses can be opened and edited. Additional statuses can be created using Add status.

Active: Determines whether the status can be displayed in the storefront.
Display positions: Defines where the label appears, such as in the product gallery, on product boxes, in search suggestions, in Shopping Experiences, or in the cart and checkout.
General content and styling: Defines the label text, tooltip, colours, font and border.
Styling by display area: Text and styling can be adjusted for individual areas. If no separate value is set, the general settings of the status apply.

The statuses supplied with the plugin can be edited but not deleted. By default, their labels are enabled for the product gallery, Shopping Experiences, and the cart and checkout. Additional display areas can be selected in each status.

Label individual images

Content > Media

After an image is selected, the AI labelling section appears in the sidebar. A status, an individual label position and an optional internal note can be set and saved there.

The AI labelling filter can be used to display images by status.

Label multiple images at once

Content > Media

When multiple images are selected, a shared status can be chosen in the AI labelling section. Selecting Assign status saves it for all selected images.

Review suggestions during upload

During upload, the plugin checks image metadata for signs of AI use. If relevant information is found, a dialog displays the affected images and suggested statuses. Each suggestion can be reviewed, adjusted and applied. The dialog can also be closed without applying a label.

The AcrisAiMediaLabelling Media labelling profile can be used to import and export labelling statuses, label positions and notes. This allows larger media libraries to be updated in batches.

Uninstalling without keeping user data now also removes the labelling values and upload analysis stored on the media, so images are no longer marked after a reinstallation.
