About the Extension

Purpose of the plugin

This plugin removes automatic variant preselection. On the parent product detail page, every variant group starts without a selected option. Customers choose the properties they want before adding the product to the cart.

Choose variants deliberately
Whether size, colour or another property, no variant option is selected in advance. Dropdowns initially display “Please select”. The matching variant is opened once an option has been chosen for every variant group.

Show parent products in listings and search results
Product listings and search results display the parent product instead of an automatically preselected variant. Customers can then open the product detail page and choose their preferred variant.

Prevent incomplete selections from being added to the cart
The “Add to cart” button remains disabled until all variant options have been selected. An additional check prevents the parent product from being added through the cart action without a complete selection.

Control where the feature applies
The feature can be enabled or disabled per sales channel and restricted using Shopware rules. It can also be limited to selected dynamic product groups or disabled for individual parent products through a custom field. The dynamic product group restriction is checked on the product detail page and during the cart action.
