About the Extension

Purpose of the Plugin

Maintaining multilingual shop content often involves a considerable amount of manual work. Texts need to be copied, translated outside Shopware and then inserted again into the corresponding language versions.

The plugin integrates AI-powered translation and text generation features directly into the Shopware Administration. Content can be translated individually, in bulk or automatically into multiple languages. The plugin also assists with text creation, generates alt text and image titles, and provides centralized control over translations, token usage and estimated costs.

Translate content directly in Shopware
Translatable content can be edited directly on the corresponding detail page. The AI translator detects available text fields and makes it possible to translate individual content or all fields of a data record. The source and target languages can be selected in the translation dialog. The generated texts are first displayed in a preview and can be reviewed and adjusted before they are applied.

Global translator in the top bar
A global AI translator is available in the top bar and can be used independently of the Administration page currently open. Similar to a conventional online translator, texts can be entered directly, translated into the desired target language and then reused. The source and target languages can be selected individually. This also makes it possible to translate texts that are not assigned to a specific product, category or other Shopware data record.

Process multiple content items and languages at the same time
Bulk translation makes it possible to process numerous data records together. For example, multiple products or categories can be selected and translated into one or more target languages at the same time. Processing takes place in the background. The current progress is displayed clearly, and active translation jobs can be stopped if required.

Automatically translate new and modified content
If required, the plugin automatically translates new or modified content. Translation can be triggered when a data record is saved in the Administration or imported via the Shopware Sync API. It can also be defined whether only missing language content should be added or existing translations should be overwritten.

Translate different types of shop content
In addition to products and categories, the plugin can process properties, snippets, email templates and translatable custom fields. Shopping Experiences content can also be translated directly within the configuration of the respective element. Standard Shopware Shopping Experiences elements as well as ACRIS Shopping Experiences elements are supported.

Create texts more quickly
AI autocomplete assists with entering longer texts. While typing, a suitable suggestion is displayed and can be accepted directly using the Tab key. This makes it possible to create descriptions and other editorial content more quickly within the Shopware Administration.

Automatically generate alt text and image titles
Alt text and image titles can be generated directly from the content of an image within the media details. The AI analyzes the selected image and creates a suitable description for the alt text field as well as a corresponding image title. This simplifies the maintenance of media information and supports more accessible shop content.

Automatically assign language-specific media
Media files can be linked to a corresponding file in another language. If a translated text contains a media link, it can automatically be replaced with the appropriate language-specific media file. Related files can also be identified automatically using language codes in the file name, such as “_DE” and “_EN”.

Use different AI providers
The plugin supports OpenAI, Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini. A separate API key and the desired model can be stored for each provider. A default provider can be defined globally. The connection to each provider can be tested directly in the plugin configuration.

Monitor translations and costs
All AI translations can be stored in a history. The original text and translated content can be compared, and entries can be filtered by content, target language and period. The plugin also records the input and output tokens used and displays the estimated costs of AI usage. An optional monthly token budget can be used to limit and better control consumption.

AI Model Configuration

AI provider
Choose between OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude) and Google (Gemini).
API key
Enter the API key of the selected AI provider.
Model
Select the model used for translations and autocomplete.
Load available models
Retrieves the available models from the selected AI provider.
Test API connection
Checks whether the stored API key and selected model can be used.
Enable AI generation of image alt text
Enables the automatic generation of alt text and image titles. An image-capable OpenAI model is required for this function.

Visibility

Buttons to display
Defines whether the AI function is displayed for individual fields, for the entire data record in the Smart Bar or in both areas.
Automatically detect translatable detail pages
Automatically displays the AI translator on detail pages containing translatable content.
Additional detail pages
Allows additional Administration pages to be assigned manually using the format routeName=entityName.

Language Settings

Source language
Language whose content is used as the basis for the translation. If the field is left empty, the system language is used.
Default target languages
Languages selected by default in the translation dialog. If the field is left empty, the languages assigned to the sales channels are used.

Automatic AI Translation

Handling of existing translations
Defines whether existing translations are overwritten or only missing content is added.
Automatically translate CMS content
Also translates individually overridden content from Shopping Experiences layouts when saving.
Save translation history
Saves completed AI translations in the translation history.
Delete AI translation history after X days
Defines the period after which old history entries are automatically removed. A value of 0 keeps the entries permanently.

Autocomplete

Enable autocomplete for the text editor
Displays AI suggestions while entering text. The displayed suggestion can be accepted using the Tab key.

Token Usage and Budget

Monthly token budget
Defines a monthly usage limit. A value of 0 means unlimited usage.
Price per 1 million input and output tokens
Used to calculate the estimated AI costs and can be adjusted according to the pricing of the selected model.
Current usage
Displays the tokens used during the current month and the estimated costs.

Media Language Linking

Enable media language linking
Automatically replaces media links in translations with the corresponding language-specific media file.
Also apply in the storefront at runtime
Additionally replaces language-specific media links when the content is loaded in the storefront.

Use the Global AI Translator

Open the AI Translator in the top bar of the Shopware Administration

Select the source and target language
Enter the desired text in the “Input text” field
Click “Translate” to generate the AI translation
Use “Copy” or “Copy and close” to apply the result

The global translator can be used independently of the Administration page currently open.

Translate Individual Fields or Complete Data Records

Depending on the configuration, AI buttons are available on supported detail pages, such as products, categories, properties or email templates.

Open the AI button next to the desired text field to translate only that field
Open the AI Translator in the Smart Bar to translate multiple fields of the data record together
Select the source language, target languages, AI provider and model
Review the translations, edit them if required and then save them

Translate Shopping Experiences Content

Content > Shopping Experiences > Open layout

An AI button is displayed next to translatable text fields in supported Shopping Experiences elements.

Configure Automatic Translations

Settings > Extensions > AI Translation Entities and Automation > AI Translation

Data record
Select the content type, such as product, category, property, email template or Shopping Experiences content.
Enable automatic translation
Defines whether content is translated after every change, only when imported via the Sync API or not automatically.
Preselect Administration translation field by default
Defines which fields are selected by default for manual translations.
Enable automatic translation
Determines for each field whether it is included in automatic translations.
Add field
Adds further translatable fields for the selected data record.

Bulk Translation

Settings > Extensions > AI Translation Entities and Automation > Bulk Translation > New Bulk Translation

Data record
Select the content type to be translated.
Fields
Select the content to be translated.
Source language
Language of the existing content.
Target languages
Select one or more languages for the translation.
Data records
Select specific content. If the selection is left empty, all data records of the selected type are processed.

Processing takes place in the background. Progress can be monitored in the overview and the job can be stopped if required.

Translation History

Settings > Extensions > AI Translation Entities and Automation > Automatic AI Translation History

The history displays information such as the translation method, data record, target language and execution date. The detail view can be used to compare the original values with the translated values. Entries can be filtered by data record, language and period.

Generate Alt Text and Image Titles

Content > Media > Select image

Enable the function in the plugin configuration first
Click “Generate alt text (AI)” in the media sidebar
The AI analyzes the image and automatically creates alt text and an image title

Link Language-Specific Media

Content > Media > Select media > Language versions

Define the language for which the selected file should be used
Use “Link media” to assign the corresponding file in another language
Files with language suffixes such as “_DE” and “_EN” can automatically be recognized as related files

Technical Requirements

The Shopware Message Queue must be processed regularly for bulk translations and automatic translations. Scheduled Tasks must also be configured for the automatic cleanup of the translation history.
