About the Extension

Pinterest Tag & Conversions API (CAPI) for Shopware

Reach your audience on Pinterest and measure your campaigns precisely. This extension cleanly integrates the Pinterest Tag into your storefront and additionally reports all relevant shop events server-side via the Pinterest Conversions API (CAPI v5) - privacy-compliant and only after cookie consent has been given.

Client-side tag plus server-side Conversions API

Browser-side tracking alone increasingly loses conversions due to ad blockers and browser restrictions. This extension therefore combines both paths:

  • Pinterest Tag in the browser for classic tracking
  • Conversions API (CAPI) for server-side transmission directly from your shop to Pinterest
  • Deduplication via a shared event ID, so every event is counted only once

This gives you significantly higher data quality and more stable conversion measurement.

Tracked events

The key steps along the buying journey are detected automatically and reported to Pinterest:

  • page_visit - every storefront page view (client-side)
  • view_category - category and listing pages (client-side)
  • search - search result pages (client-side)
  • add_to_cart - item added to the cart (server-side only)
  • checkout - completed order with revenue, currency and items (client- and server-side, deduplicated)
  • lead - successful contact form submission (optional, client-side)

In addition, you can define custom events per page/route via the configuration, without any code changes.

Enhanced match for higher match rates

Optionally, the extension passes a hashed e-mail address to the Conversions API. Hashing is performed using SHA-256 before the data leaves your shop. This helps Pinterest attribute conversions to the right users more reliably.

Privacy first

The Pinterest Tag is loaded only once the visitor has consented to the marketing category. If consent is withdrawn, tracking actively stops and existing Pinterest cookies are removed.

Supported are the Shopware cookie consent manager as well as seven external consent tools: Cookiebot, CookieFirst, Usercentrics, ACRIS EU Cookie Policy Pro, CCM19, CMP and CookieYes. For Usercentrics, CCM19 and CMP, consent cannot be reliably read server-side - for these, the server-side event is skipped for safety, while the client-side tag still fires once consent has been given.

Note on data transfer: The Conversions API additionally sends the visitor's IP address and user agent to Pinterest for matching. Pinterest Inc. processes this data in the USA - disclose this data transfer in your privacy policy.
