About the Extension

Populate categories automatically

This extension populates your categories automatically. You define rules that connect a dynamic product group to a target category. When a rule runs, the extension evaluates the product group and writes the matching products as real category assignments, exactly like a manual assignment.

Because these are real assignments, they take effect everywhere: sorting and manual product order, product exports and feeds, SEO URLs, breadcrumbs and category listings, and other extensions that read category assignments.

Two modes per rule

Add: matching products are added. The rule never removes anything.

Sync: the rule fully manages its own assignments and removes products that no longer match. Only assignments this rule created itself are ever removed.

Manual assignments stay protected

An assignment ledger records every assignment the extension creates. Manual assignments never appear in the ledger and are therefore never touched.

Priorities, preview and triggers

Rules have priorities and a selectable conflict strategy. Before every run a preview shows the match count, products to be added and removed, protected manual assignments and sample products. Changes to products and product groups automatically schedule a re-evaluation, and a full re-evaluation also runs once per day.

Requirement

A running message queue worker is required. All evaluation and assignment writing happens asynchronously through the message queue.

Notes

Categories whose product assignment type is Dynamic product group ignore materialized assignments. The admin warns you when you select such a category as the target.
