About the Extension

Product gone. Customer still shopping.

Your products change. Old links keep working their way into search results, bookmarks, newsletters and other websites. When a customer follows a link to a deleted product, give them somewhere useful to go.

Product 404 Redirects automatically redirects recognised old product URLs to relevant category pages. Replace a frustrating dead end with another opportunity to browse your catalogue.

Automatic redirects for deleted product URLs

When you delete a product, the plugin records its available SEO URLs and suitable category destinations. It prioritises the product's main category where available, then looks for a suitable deeper category. You can review the saved redirect and change its target whenever your catalogue evolves.

Give traffic from old links a useful destination

Support your ecommerce SEO maintenance by managing broken product links in one place. Visitors arriving from old search results, external links or saved bookmarks can continue into your shop. Choose relevant destinations that match their original interest, and review popular source URLs to understand where redirects are being used.

Find redirect opportunities in existing URL history

The lookup checks saved redirect rules, deleted SEO URL records and historical product slugs. This can also help with products removed before installation when the necessary URL history still exists. A matching category depends on the data available; missing product and category history cannot be reconstructed.

See the numbers. Control the destination.

The administration dashboard shows redirect rules, hits today, hits over seven and thirty days, and total hits. Search and sort the rule list, filter by sales channel, inspect source and target paths, edit destinations, and enable or disable individual rules. Redirect counts show routing activity, not confirmed sales.

Explain the redirect to your visitors

An optional storefront notice tells shoppers that the original product is no longer available. Customise the text, include the product name with {product}, and choose how long the message remains visible. The destination stays useful and the change feels understandable.

Built for changing catalogues

  • Discontinued products and seasonal collections
  • Old product links in search results, bookmarks and newsletters
  • Stores with multiple sales channels and storefront languages
  • Teams that want automatic handling with manual control

Configure the optional homepage fallback for recognised product URLs that have no suitable category destination. Choose your log retention period and let scheduled cleanup maintain the redirect history. English and German administration texts are included.

Start by reviewing your old product links and their destinations. Product 404 Redirects helps keep the shopping journey moving when individual products leave your catalogue.
