About the Extension
Shoppers typing into the search bar often aren't looking for a single product — they want to land on the right category or collection. Shopware 6's default storefront search only returns products, forcing visitors to click deeper than needed to reach brand or product-group pages.
This plugin adds categories to both the search suggest dropdown and the full search results page. Category results appear next to the usual product results, so visitors can choose the fastest route to what they need. Result: fewer clicks to the right landing page, a more natural search experience and a measurable drop in search-session bounce rates.
The plugin operates entirely through Shopware's Data Abstraction Layer and works on installations both with and without Elasticsearch. It does not modify the product search — existing relevance, filters and sorting stay intact. Categories are matched by name and limited to the active sales-channel navigation tree, so you never accidentally expose hidden branches.
For shops under load, the /suggest endpoint ships with HTTP caching and tag-based invalidation. Caches are cleared automatically whenever products or categories change, or when the plugin's settings are updated — no extra setup required.
Suitable for B2C and B2B shops, multilingual installations and setups with multiple sales channels.
