Product Carbon Footprint (Green Claims)
Description
Highlights
About the Extension
Product Carbon Footprint attaches an emission figure to the article: you maintain kg CO₂e in the administration; the shop shows a badge on the product detail page and a total on the cart page.
The plugin also checks its own green-claim field for vague environmental terms (for example “climate neutral” or “eco-friendly”) in six languages. Without a substantiation reference (certificate ID or URL) the statement stays marked as unsubstantiated. That is a hint check, not legal advice and not proof that a wording meets a directive.
Day-to-day in the shop
- Enter a value per product — without a value the storefront does not change.
- A badge in the product-detail buy widget, without theme coding in the default storefront. If another plugin replaces the same block, load order decides.
- A total on the cart page (footprint × quantity for line items that have a value).
- CSV import for many articles; Climatiq is optional and import-only, with a “Test API key” button that says whether the stored key works.
- Shopware 6.6 and 6.7.
What is included
- Admin module with a list and a create/edit page, including “Validate claim”.
- A public label page per product at /coding9-carbon-label/….
- CSV bulk import and a status CLI; events for your own automation.
- An offset price per tonne in settings — a calculated figure, not a certificate sale and not shown at checkout.
Set up in 5 steps
- Install and activate the extension.
- Open Catalogues › Carbon Footprint and click Add carbon footprint: pick a product, enter kg CO2e and state the calculation method.
- Open that product in the storefront – the CO2 badge sits below the “Add to shopping cart” button, the total appears in the cart.
- Adjust under Extensions › My extensions › Product Carbon Footprint (Green Claims) › Configure: pick the sales channel at the top, switch the CO2 output for that channel on or off, switch the badge, set the offset price per tonne and the marking of unsubstantiated claims.
- Many articles at once: the bulk import runs on the console, not in the administration. bin/console coding9:carbon:import file.csv reads a header row with productNumber plus any of footprintKg, weightKg with emissionFactor (footprint = weight × factor; without a factor the default factor from the settings applies), calculationMethod, climatiqActivityId (together with weightKg and calculationMethod climatiq; needs your own Climatiq API key in the settings), greenClaim, claimEvidence, offsetEnabled, claimVerified (comma or semicolon; 1,234.50 and 1.234,50 both accepted) and reports imported, skipped and errors per row. Only the columns in the file are changed; a follow-up import of new footprints keeps the claims already stored. bin/console coding9:carbon:status then shows what is stored. The settings on the Data import & CO2 sources card apply to that run; without console access, create footprints one by one under Catalogues › Carbon Footprint.
The plugin does not compute a footprint from the supply chain and does not scan product descriptions or CMS content. The figures come from you.
