Live Ranker – product sorting by visitor behaviour

Shopware sorts category listings statically: by name, price, or a manual order. What a visitor views, adds to cart, or saves to the wishlist has no effect on the order. Live Ranker changes that: the listing is reordered per visitor in real time, driven by a merchant-chosen objective.

Features in detail

• Five merchant objectives: Conversion (products with high purchase probability rise), cart value (higher-priced products preferred), margin (higher-margin products preferred), sell-through (products with high stock rise) and new arrivals (new products placed prominently). The objective is selected in the plugin configuration.
• Three ranking engines: The heuristic engine works locally without an external API. It evaluates the visitor's clicks, add-to-carts and wishlist actions and calculates a score per product. The Jev engine sends product data and signals to the TypeSafe API and receives a rating per product. The Laya engine uses the open-source decision model Laya (Apache-2.0): either the hosted service by Laya Studio (Switzerland) or your own server in-house – then the data never leaves your network. Switching is a single config toggle; if an external engine fails, the heuristic takes over.
• FLIP animation: Products slide smoothly to their new position via CSS transition. The visitor sees no loading time, no flicker and no jump.
• A/B test: The ranker group share is configurable (default 50%). The assignment is stored in a cookie (only with comfort cookie consent). The variant (control or ranker) is saved as a custom field on orders of visitors who gave consent – so you can measure the revenue impact.
• Consent gate: Signals are only collected when the visitor has accepted the comfort cookie. Without consent, the listing stays in default order.
• Sold-out at the bottom: Products without available stock automatically sink to the end of the listing, regardless of score.
• Test button: The plugin configuration includes a button that checks the connection to the selected engine (Jev or Laya). It sends a test request and shows the result immediately.

About the extension

Built for updates. A storefront JS plugin registers on the listing element and intercepts pagination and filter events. The rerank endpoint is a dedicated storefront controller. The plugin extends exactly one Twig block with a wrapper and renders the original content unchanged.

Clean removal. On uninstall, all configuration keys are removed. The plugin creates no database table.

Compatibility. Shopware 6.7.x, tested with the default theme and ThemeWare.

Privacy. In heuristic mode, no data leaves the server. In Jev or Laya mode, product data and the session's signals (which products were viewed, added to cart or saved) are sent to the selected API – no personal data, no IP addresses. With your own Laya server, this data stays in-house too. Signals are kept in the browser's sessionStorage; the cookie contains only the A/B variant.

What the plugin does NOT do

• It does not replace any core template; the one extended Twig block renders its original content.
• It does not create a database table.
• It does not store personal data.
• It is not a replacement for Shopware product sorting – it adds a visitor-based real-time layer on top.
