Every time a customer closes their browser or their session expires, their carefully built shopping cart disappears. That means lost sales, frustrated customers, and a worse shopping experience. ICTECH Persistent Cart solves this completely.
This Shopware 6 plugin saves the customer's cart context token in a browser cookie, so when they return — even after closing and reopening their browser — their cart is exactly where they left it. No re-adding items. No lost conversions.
How It Works
When a customer visits your store, the plugin quietly saves Shopware's internal context token to a persistent cookie. On their next visit, the plugin reads that cookie and restores the session automatically — before the page even loads. The customer sees their cart just as they left it, with zero friction.
The process is fully transparent to the customer and requires no action on their part.
GDPR-Ready & Privacy Compliant
Privacy compliance is built in from the ground up. The plugin integrates natively with Shopware's Cookie Manager, registering its cookie with a proper name and description visible to your customers in the consent banner.
You choose how the cookie behaves:
- Always Active (Functional): The cart is persisted without requiring explicit cookie consent. Suitable for stores where persistent cart is considered a strictly necessary functional feature.
- Consent-Required (Optional): The cart is only persisted after the customer has approved the cookie. Perfect for stores with strict GDPR requirements.
On logout, both the cart token cookie and the consent cookie are automatically cleared — ensuring no stale cart data lingers after a customer ends their session intentionally.
Flexible Configuration
Everything is configurable directly from the Shopware admin panel:
- Enable or disable the plugin per sales channel — ideal for multi-store setups
- Set the cookie lifetime anywhere from 1 day to years (default: 90 days)
- Choose the consent mode (always active or consent-required) per sales channel
- All settings take effect immediately with no server restart required
Built for Shopware 6.7+
The plugin is built natively for Shopware 6.7 and follows Shopware's best practices throughout:
- Uses Symfony event subscribers for clean, non-invasive integration
- Fully compatible with Shopware's cache and CDN setup — cookies are never written on cacheable responses
- Automatically manages the core.loginRegistration.invalidateSessionOnLogOut system setting on install and uninstall
- Clean uninstall: all plugin configuration data is removed from the database unless you choose to retain it
