About the Extension

In the Shopware standard, every product is automatically assigned its own canonical tag. For variants or very similar products, this can quickly lead to duplicate content and negatively affect visibility in search engines.

We have therefore developed a plugin that offers the following advantages:

Set canonical tag flexibly
Instead of its own canonical tag, a product can be assigned the canonical tag of another product. This allows control over which product is prioritised for indexing in search engines.

Avoid duplicate content
Especially for variants or nearly identical items, it makes sense to allow only one main product to be indexed. The plugin prevents unnecessary product pages from appearing in the index.

Easy management
Assignment is done via a custom field directly on the product and can also be carried out using bulk editing or via the API. This makes it easy to adjust even large product ranges efficiently.
