Know which ads bring orders
Ad Pixels shows your ad network which visits and orders its ads have brought you. Today it supports ChatGPT Ads (OpenAI). Your shop reports page views, product views, items added to the cart, the start of checkout and completed orders. It does so in two ways at once: through OpenAI's tracking pixel in the visitor's browser and directly from your shop's server. OpenAI recognises that both reports belong to the same visit, so every sale is counted once. Because cart, checkout and order reports come from your server, they still arrive when an ad blocker or the browser stops the pixel.
Orders are reported with their real value, gross or net, with or without shipping costs, and with the ordered items. You can also report visits to any other page of your shop, for example the registration page.
Nothing is tracked before the visitor agrees
The plugin adds its own entry "ChatGPT Ads (OpenAI)" to the Marketing group of your shop's cookie banner. It tells visitors in a few plain sentences who receives which data and why, that the data goes to the USA, that they can change their mind at any time, and links to OpenAI's privacy policy. Until a visitor agrees, no pixel is loaded, no cookie is set and nothing is sent to OpenAI. If the visitor withdraws consent in the cookie settings, tracking stops at once and the pixel's cookies are deleted. If you use a different cookie banner, the plugin can follow its decision instead.
By default only the bare minimum is sent: what happened, the markers left by the ad click and the pixel, and the page address. No names, no e-mail addresses. If you want OpenAI to match more orders to ads, you can switch on enhanced matching (off by default). Then the e-mail address, phone number, first and last name and customer ID are converted on your server into a code that cannot be turned back into the original (hashed) before they are sent. They remain personal data. In addition, country, region, city and postcode of the billing address, the IP address and browser details are sent as they are. Personal data never appears in your shop's pages, and your OpenAI access key stays on your server.
Set up in minutes, checked at a glance
Copy the Pixel ID and the Conversions API key (OpenAI's access key for reports from your server) from OpenAI Ads Manager, save, and click Test connection. For every sales channel you see whether OpenAI accepts your details, without anything being counted. In test mode you can try the whole setup with real reports that OpenAI checks but does not count.
Reports from your server are sent in the background, so your shop never slows down while waiting for OpenAI, and failed attempts are repeated automatically. Every report appears in the delivery log with whether it arrived and OpenAI's reply, can be filtered, and contains no personal data. Old entries are deleted automatically after the number of days you choose.
Good to know
- You need your own OpenAI Ads account with a Pixel ID and a Conversions API key.
- OpenAI processes the data in the USA. Name OpenAI in your privacy policy and accept OpenAI's data processing terms, including the safeguard for the transfer to the USA.
- All settings can differ per sales channel, and you can leave out customer groups from tracking completely.
