Pack Units

About the Extension
Many products are bought in more than one quantity: a single piece for a first try, a pack of six for regular customers, a carton for resellers. Pack Units lets you sell the same product in all of these pack sizes without creating duplicate products or splitting your stock. Customers pick a pack size and the number of packs, and your shop keeps counting in pieces in the background.
Clear choices on the product page
Below the price, customers see the available pack sizes with their contents, for example "Pack (6 pieces)" or "Carton (12 pieces)", and choose how many packs they want. The price per pack, the price per piece, the total number of pieces and the total price update as they choose, so there is no doubt about what lands in the cart. The selection also works when JavaScript is switched off in the browser.
In the shopping cart, at checkout and in the customer account, every item reads like the customer ordered it: "3× Pack (18 pieces)". Each pack size gets its own cart line, and the quantity buttons in the cart move in whole packs.
One stock, counted in pieces
All pack sizes of a product share the product's normal stock, which is always kept in pieces. A carton of 12 deducts 12 pieces, a single deducts one. Your prices, including tiered prices, stay per piece, and orders, cancellations, documents and rules continue to work as usual.
Pack sizes that the remaining stock can no longer fill are hidden automatically and reappear once you restock. Customers are never offered a carton you cannot ship, and if a cart quantity no longer fits, it is adjusted to whole packs that are in stock and the customer is informed.
Shared stock for variants
When several variants come from the same material or source, a shared stock pool lets them draw from one stock. You enter the total and the current stock of the pool and define how many units of the pool each variant uses per piece sold, for example one unit for size M and four for size XL. The stock of every variant in the pool is calculated from it, orders deduct from the pool and cancellations book back up to the total stock. The administration shows the resulting stock per variant and points out settings that could lead to overselling.
Accurate shipping costs
Each pack unit can carry its own weight and dimensions. When set, weight-based shipping prices and rules use the real weight of the packs in the cart instead of multiplying the weight of a single piece.
Set up once, use everywhere
You manage your pack units, such as single, pack, carton or pallet, in one central list with translatable names, so they read naturally in every shop language. On each product you switch on sales in pack units and pick the pack sizes it is sold in, and variants take over the pack sizes of their main product unless you give them their own. Per sales channel you decide whether pack units are used at all and whether pack sizes are limited by stock for every product.
