About the Extension

Two EU guarantee rules, one shop

From 27 September 2026, online shops have to show the statutory legal-guarantee notice, and may show the GARAN label for durability guarantees that qualify for it. This plugin supports both — the obligation and the voluntary label — so the information is complete, consistent and visible where buyers expect it, instead of being patched together from separate tools.

The statutory legal-guarantee notice

The notice is official Commission artwork and is rendered exactly as published — never retyped, recoloured or resized. All 24 official EU languages ship with the plugin, and the right one is chosen for each customer automatically: the storefront's own language, otherwise another version of the same language, and English as a last resort.

You decide where it appears. Product page, cart, checkout confirmation and footer can each be enabled independently. By default the product page and the confirmation page carry a line naming the buyer's guarantee rights that opens the full notice on the first click — the presentation the Commission's Practical Guidelines illustrate for online use. Switch it to the always-visible rendering if you would rather have it in the page. Products that are not consumer goods, such as vouchers, services or deposits, can opt out, and selected B2B customer groups can be excluded. The accessible link beside the notice always points to the same destination the official QR code encodes.

The GARAN durability label

The GARAN label is the official mark for commercial durability guarantees. The plugin generates it from the official template, filling in only the three permitted values — guarantee duration, producer brand and model identifier. Every fixed element is left untouched, the QR code included: it leads to the Commission's portal on durability guarantees, and is republished as a text link beside the label as the Practical Guidelines require. Values that do not fit are scaled to the official layout, never truncated.

The label is not simply switched on. Every configured guarantee is checked against the official qualification criteria before anything is shown: it must be offered by the producer, free of charge, cover the entire product, last longer than two years in whole half-year steps — so 30 months at the shortest — and carry a producer brand and a model identifier. Seven distinct statuses tell you exactly why a label is withheld.

Guarantee data that stays consistent

Products carry a dedicated Guarantee tab, manufacturers carry their own defaults, and the inheritance chain follows the catalogue: a variant can inherit from its parent product, a product can inherit from its manufacturer, and every level can be overridden or switched off individually. The model identifier falls back to the product's manufacturer product number automatically, so a manufacturer default can still qualify. The guarantee conditions can be a URL or an uploaded document.

A live preview on both the product and the manufacturer screens shows exactly what will be resolved and displayed — including the values a variant inherits and the reasons a label is withheld. A missing duration, brand or model, an expired configuration or a value that cannot be expressed in the official format is reported before it reaches your customers.

Orders and order confirmations

Every order placed while the plugin is active is documented. An immutable snapshot stores which notice version and which guarantee data applied to each line item at the time of the order — evaluated on the order date, not on today's catalogue. The order detail page shows the record, and the confirmation email uses it, so a confirmation resent later still describes the order as it was.

The official notice PDF is attached to the order confirmation, fulfilling the duty to deliver the notice on a durable medium after the sale. Guarantee data is included for qualifying line items, and producer guarantee statements are attached as documents, with identical documents attached only once.

Validation and operations

Catalogue validation is continuous rather than a one-off audit. A scheduled task revalidates the catalogue daily, so validity windows that lapse overnight are caught automatically, and the same validation can be run from the command line for single products, manufacturers or the whole catalogue. A Store API endpoint lets headless storefronts display the same notice, labels and safety information.

  • Live validation preview on the product and manufacturer screens
  • Role-based permissions for viewing, editing and order-snapshot access
  • A command-line tool that checks and prepares the official artwork

The plugin works exclusively with the official Commission files and never invents artwork for a regulated mark. Before going live, review the final configuration for your own legal situation: the plugin supports the implementation, it does not replace legal advice.
