About the Extension
Surcharges and add-ons that follow your rules
A small-order surcharge below a certain goods value, a handling fee for bulky orders, free gift wrapping from a certain basket size or a sample pack for selected customer groups: with this plugin, these positions appear in the cart on their own. You decide under which conditions a product is added, and the plugin keeps the cart in line with that decision every time it is recalculated.
The conditions come from the Rule Builder you already know. As long as a rule matches, the product is in the cart. Once the customer changes the basket and the rule stops matching, the position disappears again, without any manual work for your team.
Built on your existing products
Every surcharge is a regular catalogue product, so name, image, product number and tax rate are maintained where you already maintain them. For pure fees you simply create a product that is hidden in listings and search, so it never shows up in your shop but can still be added to the cart.
You set up surcharges directly on the product in a dedicated Cart surcharges tab. In the Rule Builder, the rule's Assignments tab lists every surcharge that uses it, so you always know where a rule is in effect.
Flexible pricing
Each surcharge has its own price setting:
- Product price: the product's regular price for this customer, including currency, customer group and advanced prices
- Free: the product is listed at zero, for example as a gift or sample
- Percentage of goods value: a percentage of the goods in the cart, with tax split proportionally over their tax rates
Percentages are always calculated from the goods only, never from other automatic positions, so surcharges cannot inflate each other. Shipping costs are never part of the base.
Mandatory or optional, with or without stock
Mandatory positions cannot be removed by the customer. Optional positions can be removed and then stay removed, so a customer who declines your free sample is not asked again during the same shopping session. Customers see a small "Added automatically" note on these positions in the cart, so nothing comes as a surprise.
For fees, the position never touches your stock and does not count as goods. If you want to add a real product such as a gift, enable stock reduction and it is handled like any other product line: availability is checked and stock is reduced when the order is placed.
Consistent from cart to order
Automatic positions are part of the normal cart calculation, so they behave the same in the storefront, in headless shops using the Store API and when orders are created in the Administration. They are saved as regular order positions and appear in the order confirmation, the order detail and your documents. When an order is edited later, existing positions are kept exactly as they were placed.
