About the Extension

Mandatory from 2 August 2026

The EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), Article 50(4), requires AI-generated or AI-edited content – including product images – to be clearly marked as artificially created. Anyone using AI images in their shop must label them visibly from 2 August 2026. This plugin implements that for Shopware 6.7 with no coding required.

How it works

Mark a product that uses AI-generated images via a custom field on the product.
On the product page a visible label automatically appears right on the image – in the main gallery and in the zoom view.
You decide the style, text and position; the configuration applies per sales channel.

Four label styles

Choose between Solid (dark pill), Light (light pill with border), Minimal (round icon badge) or a custom image with adjustable width. The position is freely selectable in all four corners, and the text is fully customizable.

Note: this plugin provides the technical labelling tool. Assessing which images require labelling and the legal responsibility remain with the merchant.

Multilingual: the label text is now a translatable snippet (English "Created with AI", German "Mit KI erstellt") and can be adjusted per language under Settings > Snippets (key "jga-ai-image-label.text"). The previous "Label text" configuration field, which applied to all languages alike, has been removed.
Accessibility: screen readers announce the notice in the storefront language, including the displayed label text.
Bug fix: the label now also appears in storefront languages in which the "Product images are AI-generated" field is not maintained separately, and for variants inheriting the field from their parent product.
Uninstalling with "delete all data" now also removes the label images uploaded to the plugin media folder (unless they are used elsewhere).
Styling is done entirely via the theme stylesheet instead of inline styles; internal services are no longer registered as public.

Internal code maintenance for the Shopware code review: the sales channel assignment is now passed through explicitly when resolving the label image.
Adjusted to upcoming Shopware versions (replaced deprecated API calls). No functional changes.

Label images from the plugin configuration are now stored in a dedicated "AI Image Label Media" folder, which also makes the image upload work reliably on current Shopware 6.7 versions and ensures a clean removal on uninstallation.
