Kommora Best-Before Management handles best-before dates on a batch level, escalates your discount tiers automatically, communicates the best-before date transparently throughout checkout and snapshots it permanently into every order.
Why this plugin?
- Avoid write-offs. Instead of panic-reducing prices close to expiry, the plugin discounts automatically based on your own rules.
- Audit-proof. The best-before date is visible to the customer on PDP, listing, cart, offcanvas and checkout – and is snapshotted into the order. "I didn't see it" is off the table.
- FIFO-compliant. The earliest-expiring batch is always sold and discounted first.
- Self-hosted & data-frugal. No external services, no API calls, all data stays in your shop.

- Create batches per product directly on the product detail page (card "MHD & Batches")
- Fields: quantity, best-before date, batch number, note
- Per-batch status automatically computed (expired / critical / warning / info / ok)
- FIFO logic: the oldest active batch drives display and discount

- Three freely configurable discount tiers based on days until expiry
- Example: 90 days → 10 %, 30 days → 30 %, 14 days → 50 %
- Discount applies to the list price and is updated daily

- On purchase, the best-before date is snapshotted into the order line item
- In the order detail a dedicated "Best-before at order time" card shows date, days and discount per item
- The snapshot never changes afterwards – legally sound for later customer inquiries

- Daily warning email to shop owners X days before expiry (configurable)
- Automatic action on expired batches: deactivate / not-for-sale / ignore
- Scheduled task updates status, discounts and warnings once a day

- Overview of all batches by status: expired / critical / warning / info / ok
- List of critical batches with product, SKU, batch number, best-before date, days and stock
