About the Extension

Test shops and snapshots in minutes – from the admin, without CLI battles

Kommora Staging & Clone gives shop owners, agencies and developers a tool to freeze the running shop at any time into a consistent snapshot version, clone it into a test shop and – if needed – GDPR-anonymise it. All without blocking the live database, without third-party SaaS, without command-line knowledge.

Why this plugin?

• Safe update deployment. Take a snapshot, roll out the update, roll back with one click if needed – no one has to sit at the console at night.
• Clean test shop for colleagues and developers. One click, one sub-path (/staging1/), and the second instance is ready with exactly the live data – optionally anonymised so external testers don't see real customer data.
• GDPR compliant in practice. Anyone handing a test shop to agencies, freelance developers or external consultants must pseudonymise personal data – this plugin does it reproducibly, with a deterministic Faker seed and a German name database.
• Consistent dump without DBA knowledge. We use mysqldump-php with single-transaction, hex-blob, add-drop-trigger – even large catalogues with triggers, views and foreign keys land cleanly in the dump.

Feature overview

Snapshots (server-local)

• Creates a consistent copy of selected tables in snapshot tables with prefix kommora_snap__
• Retention period configurable in admin – automatic cleanup of old snapshots
• History table in the admin module with label, size (tables), time, status
• Console command kommora:staging:create for cron jobs

Restore

• One-click rollback of a snapshot into the original tables
• Confirmation dialog with snapshot details before execution
• Console command kommora:staging:restore
• ACL-separated – restore is a higher permission level than pure snapshot viewing

GDPR anonymisation

• On demand per snapshot or per clone job
• Affects: customer, customer_address, order_customer, order_address
• Faker with locale de_DE + fixed seed → same test data on every run
• Customer names, emails, streets, cities, phones are replaced
• Original remains UNTOUCHED – anonymisation only affects snapshot tables

Folder clone (sub-path)

• Creates a second Shopware folder instance (e.g. /staging1/)
• Copies code + media files, generates its own .env with new DB URL
• The clone runs in parallel to the live shop – ideal for previewing new themes, plugins or migration tests
• Nginx sub-path setup documented in the README

External DB clone

• Creates a new MySQL database (on the same or an external server)
• Imports the dump via mysqldump-php statement-by-statement including DELIMITER handling for triggers
• Shows the new base URL in the admin, directly clickable

Vue admin module

• Menu entry Customers → Kommora Staging
• Grid with all snapshots (label, ID, size, time, status)
• Actions per row: details, restore, clone, anonymise, delete
• Live progress bar per job with log output (progress %, tables_copied, logLines)
• Detail modal with full log of each operation
