About the Extension

Catch wrong email addresses before they cost you an order

A typo in an email address means no order confirmation, no shipping update and a customer who thinks you never answered. Email Validator PRO checks the address while customers fill in the form and asks them to fix it, before they register or order.

What your customers see

"Did you mean …?": a typo like gmial.com gets a suggestion, and one click corrects it.
A clear message below the field when the address can't receive email, in the customer's language.
Disposable addresses such as Mailinator can be refused.

The address is checked when the customer leaves the field, not on every keystroke.

Four checks, combine them as you like

RFC: is the address written correctly? Runs on your own server, free.
DNS: can the domain receive email? Optionally require an MX record. Runs on your own server, free.
AbstractAPI.com: checks whether the mailbox exists, detects disposable addresses and suggests corrections for typos.
EmailHippo MORE: checks whether the mailbox exists and detects disposable addresses.

The API checks need an account with the provider. Test your key with one click in the configuration.

Switch on the server-side check to check these forms again when they are submitted. That also covers browsers without JavaScript, bots and headless frontends.

Never in the way of a sale

Only a definite "undeliverable" rejects an address. When an API can't be reached, its quota is used up or it isn't sure, the customer simply continues.
Results are cached for a day, so the same address doesn't use API credits again.

See how many addresses were checked and how many each check rejected, for the last 7 days, 30 days and in total.

Privacy

The RFC and DNS checks run on your own server. With an API check on, the address is sent to AbstractAPI.com (United States) or EmailHippo (United Kingdom) when the customer leaves the field. The settings remind you to sign a data processing agreement with the provider and to mention it in your privacy statement.

This is truly a must-have app. Previously, about 5% of our customers made typos in email addresses, causing order confirmations, package tracking emails, and other communications to not reach the customer. This not only led to suboptimal customer experience but also resulted in extra work for us: adjusting email addresses, contacting customers, and customers contacting us because they hadn't heard anything from us. In short, a correct email address is incredibly important. And this module ensures that, lightning-fast!

We use this module in conjunction with Email Hippo. The costs of this are more than offset on an annual basis. For just $285, I can have up to 60,000 email addresses checked in real-time during checkout and when creating a customer account.

Incorrect email address? The customer will then receive a clear notification, but the checkout or registration will not be blocked! Highly recommended, this great module!

Falsche E-Mail-Adresse? Der Kunde erhält dann eine klare Benachrichtigung, aber der Checkout oder die Registrierung wird nicht blockiert! Sehr zu empfehlen, dieses großartige Modul!

Do I need an API subscription?

No. The RFC and DNS checks run on your own server and are free. AbstractAPI.com and EmailHippo also check whether the mailbox exists and detect disposable addresses; AbstractAPI.com also suggests corrections for typos. For those you need an account with the provider.

What happens when the API is down or my credits run out?

The customer simply continues. Only a definite "undeliverable" rejects an address. The statistics list these cases as "Accepted without an answer".

Which forms are checked?

Customer registration and guest checkout, changing the email address in the customer account, and the contact and newsletter forms of Shopping Experiences. The login form isn't checked.

Can customers still submit a rejected address?

Not through the storefront: the form can only be sent once the address is fixed. Switch on the server-side check to also stop browsers without JavaScript, bots and headless frontends.

Is it GDPR compliant?

We can't give legal advice. The RFC and DNS checks don't send data to third parties. With an API check on, the email address goes to AbstractAPI.com (US) or EmailHippo (UK), so you need a data processing agreement and a mention in your privacy statement.

Does it work in headless shops?

Yes. The route /store-api/kw-email-validator returns the result and the suggestion for a live check, and the server-side check also covers registration, email change, newsletter and contact form through the Store API.
