About the Extension

Avalara, Inc is a leading provider of cloud-based software that delivers a broad array of compliance soulutions related to sales tax and other transactional taxes. The Avalara App calculates automatically the final sales tax amount on every invoice and helps clients to manage complicated tax regulations. 

The Avalara App enables an easy handling of exporting products to countries like Canada and the USA. The USA is known for an unclear tax system. So, Avalara is taking over the accounting of taxes. The App connects your Shopware Shop with Avalara. For each transaction to selected countries, the customers of your shop will get a runtime tax-result for their current order. 


1. Your AvaTax Account connected to your shop 

Enter your Avalara credentials on the app configuration page and check the connection to AvaTax.  

Set up the app according to your needs: country of usage, refund/cancel order status, commit to AvaTax.  

2. Item and Shipping Tax codes  

As well as the item code – tax code mapping offered by AvaTax you can also configure item/item category tax code directly in the shop. The same is true for shipping methods.  

3. Address Validation 

Make sure that a client’s address can be processed by Avalara to seamlessly calculate corresponding local taxes.  

4. Order transaction in AvaTax Backend 

Find an order transaction in AvaTax Backend simply by looking for a corresponding shop order number  

5. Cancel Taxes 

Easy cancelling of committed taxes by changing the Shopware order status to the one specified in the app set-up.  

6. Refund Taxes 

Easy refunding of committed taxes by changing the Shopware order status to the one specified in the app set-up.
