Categories you can see and click

Many shops have a clear category tree – and still only text links or rigid images on the homepage. Muto Category Box turns your subcategories into designed tiles in Shopping Experiences: image, name, click through to the SEO URL. You manage categories as usual under Catalogue. The plugin lists the direct children and renders them in your theme’s look.

Fixed on the homepage, dynamic on category pages

Pick an entry category – then the tiles stay the same everywhere, ideal for main departments on the home page. Leave the field empty and the block uses the current category page, otherwise the sales channel navigation root. In Tools you see the children of Tools, in Garden those of Garden: one layout, changing content. Grandchild categories stay out. The order follows the tree in the admin.

Design that belongs in the shop

Text sits above, below or as an overlay on the image. Theme font (body or headline), size, weight, line height, colours and hover are set on the element. Background, border and corner radius per corner, padding per side, optional zoom on the image. Twelve ratios from square to ultrawide, so crops feel intentional. Without a category image, a placeholder appears instead of an empty frame.

A grid for desktop, tablet and smartphone

Columns are separate per viewport: desktop 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6, tablet up to 4, smartphone up to 3. You set the gap between tiles in pixels, em or rem. You check the layout where customers see it – not as one compromise for every screen.

Not a second catalogue

There is no plugin configuration and no extra content. Drop the block into a Shopping Experience, choose an entry or leave it empty, match the design to the brand. Only active, visible children assigned to the sales channel appear. With no matches the element renders nothing – no empty box. Images load via thumbnails and lazy loading; every link has title and aria-label.

Built for shops that sell through entry points

Muto Category Box is for merchants who want departments to be visible and for agencies that need category teasers without a theme ticket. Use the defaults or refine colours and overlay: both are intended. The result feels like the shop – not like a bolted-on tile module. Shopware 6.7, steps documented.
