About the Extension

Variant selection your customers understand at a glance

The moment a product has three or more property groups — colour, size, material, pattern — Shopware's default picker becomes unreadable: every non-combinable option looks identical, slightly dimmed and struck through. The customer clicks around blindly.

Novastrix Variant Display replaces that flat presentation with a clear 4-state colour system and shows for each option whether it is currently in stock — before the customer clicks it.

The 4-state colour system

Green — directly available with the current selection
Amber — available in another configuration (clickable, tooltip explains the switch)
Amber-grey dashed — combination sold out everywhere (dead end recognisable upfront)
Blue — currently selected

Optionally, an In stock / Out of stock badge complements the colour coding — orthogonal to combinability, so colour-blind customers can read availability at a glance too.

Stable display even on sold-out variants

A common UX break in Shopware: when the customer lands on a sold-out variant, the picker collapses to „all amber". With the toggle Keep green status even on out-of-stock variants (default on) the status differentiation is preserved — the customer still sees which configurations are in stock.

Automatic parent aggregation (optional)

An opt-in background job runs every 15 minutes and sets, per parent product:

Stock = sum of all variant stocks
Price per currency = cheapest variant price (gross + net)

Storefront listings always show the real total stock and the lowest available price across all variants — no manual maintenance on the parent product. Multiple currencies are aggregated independently.

One source of truth for ordering

With Enforce property catalogue order, groups and options are sorted strictly by the global catalogue position (Catalogues → Properties → Position). One central sorting change applies immediately to all products that use the group — no more per-product updates.

Branding without a theme recompile

All 16 colour variables (green, amber, blue states, group cards, legend) and every legend and tooltip text are configurable in the plugin admin. Changes take effect after a cache clear — no theme recompile required. Every colour is validated server-side (hex, rgb()/rgba(), hsl()/hsla(), CSS keywords).

Search visibility

Two optional toggles make variants and parent products visible in shop search and suggest — category listings stay untouched so normal navigation is not flooded.

First public release of Novastrix Variant Display — enhanced variant configurator UX for Shopware 6 products with multiple property groups.

3-state colour system for every option: Green = directly available with current selection, Amber = available in another configuration (still clickable), Blue = currently selected.
Separate styling for text, colour swatch, media thumbnail, and select dropdown.
Status badge (dot / checkmark) on each option as a colour-blind-friendly secondary signal.
Hover tooltip on amber options explaining the selection will switch configuration.
Availability legend below the configurator (toggleable).
Auto-hide groups that contain only one remaining option after Shopware removed the non-existing ones.
Minimum property-group threshold (default 3): products with fewer groups keep Shopware's default styling.
Per-option "In stock" / "Out of stock" badge layered on top of the colour coding, so customers see availability before they click.
Independent toggles for badge visibility on selected, available, and other-configuration options.
Overridable badge labels and background colours.
"Depleted" 4th visual state — amber options whose combinations are sold out everywhere render dimmed and dashed. Stays clickable, but signals the dead end up front.
"Keep green state on out-of-stock variants" (stockAgnosticCombinable, default on): keeps the 3-state visualisation stable even when the customer is viewing an out-of-stock variant. Can be switched off per sales channel.
"Force property-catalog position for sort order" (sortByCatalogPosition, default on): groups and options are sorted strictly by the global property-catalog position (Catalogues → Properties → Position). A single catalogue change re-orders every product that uses the affected group.
Show variants individually in search — each variant appears as its own search result instead of being collapsed into the parent.
Show parent products in search — parents (products with variants) can appear alongside their variants in search and suggest.
Affects search and suggest only; category listings stay unchanged.
Opt-in scheduled background job sets every parent product's stock to the sum of all variant stocks and copies the cheapest gross/net variant price per currency onto the parent.
Storefront listings then always show the real total stock and the lowest available price across all variants — no manual upkeep of the parent record required.
Currencies are aggregated independently (per-currency cheapest child wins). Variants without their own price (inherited) are skipped during price aggregation.
Default off, so existing shops are never silently overwritten. Toggle: "Aggregate parent price & stock from variants (every 15 minutes)" (enableParentAggregation).
All 16 colour variables (green/amber/blue states, group cards, legend) configurable in the plugin admin.
All legend and tooltip labels overridable from the admin; falls back to snippet translations when left empty.
