Box-Based Cart Display with Shipping Cost Calculation and Checkout Validation
The Box Cart Display Plugin lets you sell products in configurable box sizes. Customers see a visual representation of available boxes in the cart and are guided until a box is completely filled. Shipping costs are automatically calculated based on the matching box — and checkout is only allowed when the quantity fits a box.
How It Works
- Define box sizes — Create any number of box sizes in the administration, each with minimum and maximum quantity, shipping cost, and sort order.
- Mark products as box items — Use a custom field on products to determine which products are relevant for box calculations. Unmarked products remain unaffected.
- Visual box display in the cart — Customers see an overview of all box sizes on the cart page and in the offcanvas cart, with color-coded fill levels: green for the matching box, yellow for the next reachable box and the number of items still needed.
- Automatic shipping cost calculation — Once a box matches, its shipping cost is applied automatically. For mixed carts (box and non-box items), deliveries are split — each with their own shipping costs.
- Checkout validation — If the quantity falls outside all box sizes, checkout is blocked. The customer receives a clear error message with instructions on what to do.

- B2B customer exclusion — Business customers are automatically exempt from box logic and can purchase without restrictions.
- Configurable per sales channel — Activation and box shipping method can be set individually per sales channel.
- Mixed carts — Box and non-box products are correctly split into separate deliveries, each with their own shipping cost calculation.
- Multilingual — Full translations for German and English in the storefront and administration.
