Credit Limit For B2B and Pay By Invoice
Description
Highlights
About the Extension
Paying by invoice is standard in B2B – and every open invoice is credit you have extended to your customer. Without a limit, that credit adds up unnoticed: a regular customer places four orders in two weeks, not one invoice has been paid, and suddenly a five-figure sum is at risk.
Credit Limit solves exactly that. The extension gives every customer a credit line and checks automatically on every order whether the line still covers it – before the goods leave your warehouse.
Who this extension is for
- Wholesalers and manufacturers offering invoice payment to established customers
- Shops that grant payment terms but need to keep track of outstanding receivables
- B2B shops where individual customers differ widely in creditworthiness
- Merchants who want to start cautiously with new customers and raise limits later
Credit lines on four levels
Set limits where they belong – from broad to specific, with the more specific setting always taking precedence:
- Global: one default limit for all customers
- Per sales channel: separate limits for your main shop, B2B channel or country shop
- Per customer group: different lines for dealers, regulars or new customers
- Per customer: an individual limit right on the customer record
Individual customers can be exempted from the credit limit entirely – for example long-standing key accounts with their own framework agreement.
Enforce it or just watch it – your call
In enforcing mode, an order is blocked as soon as the credit line no longer covers it. In informational mode, the order goes through but you are notified about the overrun. That lets you roll the extension out in observation mode first, gather real numbers and calibrate your limits properly before switching it on for real.
A dedicated "Credit Limit" payment method
The credit limit is implemented as its own payment method. Only unpaid orders using that method then count towards the calculation – prepayment, PayPal or card payments leave the line untouched. Exactly right if you offer several payment methods in one shop and only want to cap invoice purchases.
Full control in the administration
The customer record gets its own "Credit Limit" tab showing the current state: how much credit is granted, how much is tied up in open orders and how much remains available. Change limits right there – no detour via spreadsheets or your ERP. Order scoping settings let you define which orders and which time frame feed into the calculation.
React automatically instead of checking manually
When a limit is exceeded, the extension fires an event in the Shopware Flow Builder. Attach any action you like: notify sales by email, tag the order, set a status or trigger a webhook into your CRM. A ready-made email template for notifying staff or shop owners is included.
Transparency for your customers
If you want, customers can see their remaining credit line during checkout and in their account. That spares your sales team questions like "why can't I order on invoice?" and makes the limit understandable instead of having it appear as a surprise at checkout. Used and available credit are also available as variables in every email template – for a note in the order confirmation, for instance.
Ready to use, no project required
Install it, enter a global limit, pick a mode – done. No external interface, no contract with a credit agency, no per-transaction fees. The extension works purely with the order and payment data already in your shop. Available in German and English, compatible up to Shopware 6.7.
