About the Extension

Recover abandoned carts, with a real consent layer

Abandoned Cart Recovery makes checkout abandonment visible and brings customers back with staged reminder emails. Unlike many solutions, consent is not an afterthought here but the core: the plugin keeps the permission to store a cart strictly apart from the permission to send its owner an advertising email.

Why that separation matters

A cart reminder counts as advertising in law, because its whole point is to lead to a purchase. A cookie consent covers storing the cart, but it is not consent to be emailed. That is why each of the two questions has its own switch here, its own legal basis and its own entry in the protocol.

Consent, built for the German-speaking market

  • Guest carts only with cookie consent: a guest's cart is stored only after that visitor has agreed.
  • Part of Shopware's own consent dialog: no second banner, no consent tool of its own, no conflict with an existing solution. You choose whether the cookie appears under Marketing, Comfort, Statistics or in a separate group.
  • Marketing consent before every single mail: reminders go only to confirmed newsletter subscribers of the same sales channel or to customers who enabled cart reminders in their account. Checked immediately before each send, not once per run.
  • Guests as a separate audience: one switch decides whether guests are written to at all. You can capture their carts for your statistics and still only email customers with an account.
  • Withdrawal takes effect at once: stored carts are deleted and scheduled reminders stopped, not merely skipped at the next send.
  • Off by default: after installation and after an update your shop behaves exactly as before. You decide when and for which channels the restrictions apply.

Provable, not just claimed

  • Protocol in the Administration: every consent, every withdrawal and every sent, skipped or failed reminder as an immutable entry, filterable and searchable.
  • The wording, not a reference: each consent stores the text the person actually saw, with its language and a checksum. Snippets can be rewritten at any time, so a reference would prove nothing later.
  • Request renewed consent: if you changed the wording materially, one button declares earlier consents stale. The people affected see a notice in their account, can read the new text and confirm or decline right there. With a grace period if you want one.
  • Erasure really erases: deleting a customer account removes their address and name from the stored carts and from every reminder record. An objection is kept, so the same address is not captured again.

Staged reminders

  • Schedule per sales channel: waiting time until the first reminder, intervals of further stages, a minimum gap between two mails and an optional quiet-hours pause.
  • Per stage its own mail template and optionally a promotion for a discount code.
  • Discount protection: minimum cart value, a maximum budget across all sent reminders, and optionally no code when the cart already contains a discount.
  • Individual promotion codes are bound to account and cart and technically secured at checkout.

Recovery, analytics and automation

  • Secure recovery link: the database holds only a hash, never the plain token. One click restores the saved products to the cart.
  • Unsubscribe everywhere: a checkbox in the customer account and an unsubscribe link in every mail. The link opens a confirmation page, so no mail scanner unsubscribes anyone by accident.
  • Admin list and detail page: filters, search and, per cart, the stored items with their live availability, the reason a reminder was stopped and the history of every send.
  • Cart analytics with key figures, trends, top products and a selectable period, plus a dashboard card.
  • Retention: remove abandoned carts after X days, by deletion or anonymisation. The scheduled task handles status changes, sending and retention.
The plugin gives you the technical means to control consent, capture and sending. Which settings your shop actually needs is a decision for you and your data protection or legal advisor.
