AI Transparency: Labelling of AI Media
Description
Highlights
About the Extension
Whether a product photo is real or made with AI is often impossible to tell by looking at it. Shopware does not store this information. Without it, you cannot point it out to customers or trace later who classified an image and how.
What the plugin is - and what it is not
AI Transparency is a tool to document and display your information. It does not detect by itself whether an image was made with AI, does not check whether a labelling obligation exists or is met, and does not replace legal advice.
One review state per medium
Images, videos and audio files get one of five review states: unreviewed, created with AI, edited with AI, AI-assisted or without AI. Only the first two lead to a label in the shop. Which state fits is your decision.
The same criteria across your team
The decision assistant asks four questions about how a medium was made and suggests a review state. The suggestion is guidance, not a legal assessment. For media from sources you know for certain, you set up rules per media folder or manufacturer. Rules only change unreviewed media and never overwrite a manual decision. If a file is replaced, its state falls back to “unreviewed”.
Metadata as a hint
On upload the plugin reads the IPTC Digital Source Type and C2PA Content Credentials. A hit is a suggestion and never sets a label. The data is not verified, and C2PA signatures are not validated.
A work list instead of the whole media library
The scanner lists media used on active products, categories, manufacturers and in Shopping Experiences, filterable by folder, manufacturer, category and upload date. Images embedded as HTML in descriptions, theme media or output from other plugins are not covered.
Labels in the shop
The tag appears on product boxes, in the product gallery and zoom view and on images in Shopping Experiences. An info layer explains it, optionally with your note on what was changed, and links to your transparency page. A layout template for that page is included. Images leaving the shop through product feeds, social media previews or emails are not labelled.
Documentation and operation
The review log records every change made in the plugin with user, source and time, with CSV export and a PDF review report for any reporting date. It reflects your information and is not an audit-proof archive. The plugin can be switched per Sales Channel, and all texts are snippets. Headless frontends get labels and settings via the Store API and render them themselves.
