About the Extension

Purpose of the plugin

This plugin enables shop operators to integrate automatic age verification for age-restricted products into the Shopware checkout. As soon as a correspondingly marked product is added to the shopping cart, the customer must verify their age using a supported identity document before completing the order.

Specifically mark age-restricted products

Products that require age verification are marked as not suitable for minors using a product custom field. In the storefront, customers are informed about the required age verification directly on the product detail page.

The actual verification is performed automatically during checkout. Products without an age restriction can still be ordered without any additional verification.

Verification using different identity documents

Various national and international identity documents as well as passports are available for age verification. The customer selects the appropriate document and enters the required data from its machine-readable zone.

During verification, information such as the date of birth, expiry date, document number, and check digit is validated. The document types available in the storefront can be selected and sorted individually.

Flexible configuration by sales channel and country

The required minimum age can be defined freely. It is also possible to specify the countries for which age verification is required and whether the billing address, shipping address, or both addresses should be taken into account.

The configuration can be set individually for each sales channel, allowing different settings to be used for multiple shops or countries.

Save successful age verification

The successful verification status can optionally be saved in the customer account. This means that customers who have already been verified do not need to confirm their age again when placing a later order.

The validity period can be set flexibly from one to twelve months or without a time limit. If storage is deactivated, the successful age verification is valid only for the current session.

This extension is highlighted as part of the Premium Partner Program and can therefore be displayed with priority in the store.

Haben uns einige Plugins zu diesem Thema angeschaut und uns für dieses hier entschieden, da es unserer Meinung nach die beste Nutzererfahrung bietet. Das Setup ist einfach und schnell erledigt. Der Support konnte mir schnell und kompetent helfen. Einzig könnte man die Grafiken noch etwas verschönern, dann wäre das Plugin optimal!

Vielen Dank für das tolle Plugin, es funktioniert sehr gut und ist für den Endkunden angenehm und einfach zu nutzen.

Plugin configuration

Extensions > My extensions > Age verification > Configuration

Active for this sales channel: Activates or deactivates age verification individually for the selected sales channel.
Minimum age: Defines the minimum age required for successful verification. The default value is 18 years.
Save verification: Saves the customer’s successful verification status so that no additional age verification is required for future orders. The entered identity document data is not stored.
Verification status storage period: Defines how long a successful age verification remains valid. A period of one to twelve months or unlimited validity can be selected. This option is only taken into account if “Save verification” is activated.
Address for age verification: Determines whether the country of the billing address, shipping address, or both addresses is taken into account for age verification.
Active identity documents: Defines which identity documents are available in the storefront and the order in which they are displayed. If no document is selected, all supported documents are available.
Countries for age verification: Determines the countries for which age verification is required. If the field is left empty, verification applies to all countries.

Activate the age restriction for a product

Catalogues > Products > Open product > Specifications tab > Custom fields

In the Age verification custom field tab, activate the Not suitable for minors option.
Save the product.

Age verification in the storefront

A corresponding notice is displayed on the product detail page for age-restricted products.
When a private customer adds the product to the shopping cart and proceeds to checkout, the age verification process opens automatically.
The customer selects one of the available identity documents and enters the required data from the machine-readable zone of the document.
After successful verification, the customer is redirected to the checkout and can complete the order.

Notes

No age verification is performed for customers with a registered company.
If storage is deactivated, the successful verification is valid only for the current session.
If storage is activated, the successful verification status remains valid for the configured period.
The entered identity document data is not stored permanently in the customer account.
