Search engines like Google use image sitemaps to discover, crawl and index images more efficiently. However, not all images, thumbnails or image sizes are always fully included in the default sitemap. This extension closes that gap.

The extension automatically enhances the Shopware sitemap with image information and ensures that product and category images are properly included in the image sitemap. This helps search engines index your shop images more reliably and can improve your visibility in image search results.

Automatic image sitemap generation

The image sitemap is generated automatically based on the native Shopware sitemap. No separate sitemap, external tools or complex configuration are required. The extension integrates directly into Shopware’s existing sitemap generation.

All relevant images such as product images, category images and their different image sizes and thumbnails are automatically included in the image sitemap.

Where can I find the image sitemap?

The extension does not create a separate standalone sitemap. Instead, the image sitemaps are integrated into the default Shopware sitemap and linked there. You can therefore find the image sitemap entries within your regular Shopware sitemap.

When is the image sitemap generated?

The image sitemap is generated together with the standard Shopware sitemap. The exact timing depends on your Shopware sitemap configuration. Depending on your settings, the sitemap may be generated on request or automatically via the scheduled sitemap generation.

Why does the image sitemap not contain a lastmod tag?

The lastmod tag is not used within image entries because it is not part of the official image sitemap schema. The extension follows the official image sitemap specifications and integrates the image entries into the Shopware sitemap accordingly.

Can videos also be included in the sitemap?

No, this extension is specifically designed for image sitemaps. Video content is not automatically added to the sitemap. If you need sitemap entries for other content types, a separate solution or custom extension is required.

How does the extension behave with multiple sales channels or domains?

The extension is based on Shopware’s native sitemap generation and respects the configuration of each sales channel.
