Flexible expiry discounts

Configuration manual

After installing and activating the plugin, open Extensions > My extensions, find Best Before & Expiration Date Manager, and select Configure.

1. Email notifications

Enable Email notifications to receive expiry reminders. Add one or more recipient email addresses and select the notification periods you need, for example 7 days, 14 days, 1 month, or 3 months before expiry.

The plugin sends one notification for every selected period that is reached. A product must have a date of expiration, be active in the plugin settings, and have Notify via email enabled in its product settings.

2. Expiry badges

Configure the periods for the warning and critical badge levels. Products outside these periods receive the success status. The plugin uses Shopware’s standard success, warning, and danger colours.

3. Global expiry discounts

Enable Global expiry discounts to define fallback discounts for products without their own discount rules. Configure up to three rules by selecting a period and a discount percentage.

Examples: 10% within 1 month, 20% within 14 days, and 30% within 7 days before expiry. If several rules apply, the rule closest to the expiration date is used.

4. Storefront display

Choose whether expiration dates are shown in product listings and in cart/checkout. Product detail pages show the expiry card when the product is active for expiry handling and storefront preview is enabled.

Product configuration

Open a product in Administration and select the Expiration date tab.

Enable Active.
Select the Date of expiration.
Enable Preview on storefront to show expiry information to customers.
Enable Automatic deactivation if the product should be disabled once it expires.
Enable Notify via email if email notifications should be sent for this product.
Optionally add product-specific discount rules. These take priority over global fallback rules.
Save the product with Shopware’s global Save button.

Administration listing

In Catalogues > Products, enable the optional expiration-date column if required. Use the standard filter sidebar to filter products by expiry period. The periods do not overlap: selecting 14 days shows products expiring from day 8 through day 14, rather than also showing products from the 7-day period.

Processing

The plugin processes expiration changes through Shopware scheduled tasks and the message queue. Ensure that Shopware’s scheduled task runner and message queue worker are running in production.
