About the Extension
Your Saturday pottery class has twelve places. By Friday night thirteen are sold, one booking lives in a spreadsheet nobody can find, and at the door you are ticking names off a printout. It doesn't have to work like that.
The problem
Selling dates with standard Shopware means workarounds. One product per date, stock as a seat counter, attendee names squeezed into the order comment. When someone cancels, the person who wanted that seat never hears about it. And on the day you check paper lists instead of tickets.
The solution
The plugin turns a product into a bookable event with as many dates as you need. Customers pick a date on the product page, enter attendee details for every ticket in the cart and receive a PDF ticket with a QR code after ordering. At the entrance you scan that code with a phone. Everything stays inside Shopware, with no external services involved.
What's in it for you
No more overbooking. As soon as tickets go into a cart, the plugin holds those seats for a time you set (15 minutes by default). The final booking happens at checkout, under a lock. Two customers cannot buy the same last seat.
Sold out no longer means lost. When a date is full, people join the waiting list with their email address and confirm it via double opt-in. When a seat frees up, the next person in line is notified, optionally with a time-limited priority hold.
Tickets send themselves. A bundled flow creates the ticket PDF and emails it to the customer without any setup on your side. If you prefer, only after full payment. Customers also find their tickets and calendar files in their account under "My tickets".
Check-in in seconds, not list hunting. The entry app runs in the browser of a phone or tablet. You pair the device once via QR code, with no admin login on the device itself. The result shows up large and colour-coded: valid, already checked in (with time), unpaid, cancelled or wrong date.
Schedules in one go. A course every Tuesday until Christmas? The date series creates daily, weekly or monthly dates, up to 500 at once, with venue, address and capacity already filled in. Changes across many dates are handled with bulk editing.
Cancellations tidy up after themselves. When an order is cancelled, the plugin frees the seats and cancels the tickets. Reopen the order and the seats are booked again, as long as there is still room. If the date has filled up in the meantime, you get a notice rather than a silent overbooking.
How the plugin works
In the administration you will find "Events & Tickets" under Catalogues. Create events with a category, image, description, tags and their own time zone, and link each one to a product. For every date you set start, end, venue, address, capacity and, if needed, a separate booking deadline. Custom fields per event (text, selection, date, phone and more) are asked for each attendee in the cart.
On the product page the date selection appears in the buy section, variants included, along with a tab for the event description. Free seats can be hidden, shown approximately or shown exactly. For overview pages there is the "Events" Shopping Experiences element with the layouts Cards, List, Compact list, Slider and Calendar, with optional filters for category, location and tags.
Attendees across all events sit under Orders: searchable, with status changes, externally added attendees and export as CSV or PDF. The ticket is a document type of its own, "Event ticket", using the Shopware document layout. Date, time and venue can also appear on invoices, delivery notes and credit notes.
Typical use cases
- Adult education centre or language school: weekly classes as a date series, attendee list as a PDF for the tutor.
- Farm shop with barbecue workshops: twelve places, a waiting list for the next date, check-in by phone at the gate.
- Retailer running product training: training linked to the product, a custom field for the company name, event details printed on the invoice for accounts.
- Gig or author reading: QR code tickets, automatic delivery by email, check-in at the door with two devices at once.
Technical facts for your IT team
- Shopware 6.7.12 or newer within 6.7, PHP 8.2 or newer.
- Shopware must be allowed to run Composer when the plugin is installed: the QR code library (chillerlan/php-qrcode, MIT licence) is added at that point.
- A running message queue worker is recommended, as for every Shopware shop. Ticket issuing after payment, waiting list emails and large PDF attendee lists run in the background.
- Own tables with the prefix swp_event_tickets_. Shopware's original tables stay untouched.
- The plugin does not send any data to external servers. The entry app uses no third-party services and needs HTTPS for the camera.
- Privacy: double opt-in for the waiting list, device tokens stored as hashes, rate limits keyed on hashed IP and email address. A scheduled task deletes waiting list entries of past dates, PDF exports are removed after 24 hours and the check-in log after a configurable period (90 days by default).
- Activation and every setting per sales channel. All customer functions are also available through the Store API.
- Cache: seat counts and expired dates update without clearing the cache by hand.
- Clean uninstall, with the option to keep your data.
To be honest
This is not a seating plan tool and not a support ticket system. Express checkout buttons on the product page and the quick view cannot pass a date, so the cart removes such items with a notice. Orders created in the administration cannot select a date either; add those people as external attendees instead. If your hosting blocks Composer during plugin installation, the plugin cannot be installed.
