About the Extension

Add-on plugin – requires the Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). This plugin works exclusively as an extension of the base plugin Product Configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix). Without the installed, active, and separately purchased base plugin, this plugin has no function.

Your configurator handles fourteen option groups. Your customer sees fourteen option groups. On a phone they scroll past three of them, fill the fourth one in wrongly and write to support anyway: "What am I actually meant to enter here?" More options do not sell more on their own. First they create more explaining.

The problem

A fully built product configurator looks like a tax form on the product page. Every group sits below the next, required fields hide between optional ones, and the add to basket button waits at the very bottom of a long scroll. That costs you twice: once with the customers who give up halfway, and once with the orders that arrive in the wrong combination and have to be corrected by hand.

The solution

The add-on splits the very same configurator into steps. One option group per step, expanded, with a next button underneath. If a required field is empty, the customer stays where they are and reads in plain words what is still missing. Once a step is done it collapses and shows a short label of the choice in its header. Your customer keeps track without having to hold the whole list in their head.

What's in it for you

Your customer makes one decision at a time. Instead of fourteen groups they see one question, answer it and move on. If a required step consists of radio buttons only, the wizard jumps to the next one by itself. One click, no second button.

Required fields stop slipping through. Before every step change the plugin checks the radio buttons, dropdowns, text, number and free text fields of the current group. No complete answer, no next step.

Contradictory configurations never reach the basket. When your customer goes back and changes step two, the plugin discards every following step including its values and short labels. They rebuild from that point instead of ordering a half outdated selection.

You decide where the wizard runs. Globally for all configurator products, deliberately for single products, and on or off per sales channel. Your trade channel can keepthe classic view while the consumer shop gets the guided one.

No new data, no migration. Your option groups, prices and assignments stay exactly where they are. The plugin only changes the presentation, so you can switch it on and off again without maintaining anything twice.

How the plugin works

The steps come straight from the option groups you already maintain in the base plugin: each group becomes exactly one step, in the order set there. Required groups made up of radio buttons advance on their own, every other group gets the next button. The summary with price, chosen options and add to basket button appears either at the end or after each single step, whichever you set. If the dependency plugin is installed as well, the wizard skips hidden groups instead of getting stuck on them.

Typical use cases

Made to measure furniture. Carcass, front, handle, fittings, fitting service: five decisions that build on each other. Asked one after another, they make sense even to someone configuring a wardrobe for the first time.

Label and display printing. Material, format, print run, finishing, artwork upload. The wizard makes sure format and print run are set before the summary quotes a price in GBP.

Engineering parts in B2B. Your buyers know their connection sizes, not your group names. One step with one question and a short explanation above it is answered faster than a form with thirty fields.

Technical facts for your IT team

Shopware ~6.7.0 (any 6.7 patch level), PHP 8.2 or higher.

Add-on plugin – strictly requires the product configurator (SwpProductOptionsSix) from version 6.7.12. Optionally works together with SwpProductOptionsSixDependencies.

It creates no tables of its own, ships no controllers and no API routes. Technically it is a Twig and JavaScript extension on top of the base plugin templates. Original Shopware tables stay untouched.

The plugin sends no data to external servers, processes no personal data and sets no cookies of its own. The browser builds the steps from markup that has already been rendered, so there are no extra database queries on the product page and no extra requests to the server during configuration. The HTTP cache stays as it is.

All settings live in the plugin configuration, per sales channel. After installing and after each update the theme is recompiled once. Uninstalling with "keep user data" switched off removes the plugin configuration values and resets the step by step marker on your products. Interface and storefront texts ship in German, English and Dutch.

To be honest

Without the base plugin SwpProductOptionsSix nothing happens here. This add-on is not a configurator of its own, it changes neither price calculation nor the handover to the basket, and it creates no dependencies between options. It handles the guided presentation and nothing else. With two option groups you do not need it, from three or four upwards you will notice the difference. The honest test is a single product: switch the wizard on, click through it yourself, then decide.
